Position Info

The Accountant will assist both the fund accounting and asset management teams in the preparation of monthly and quarterly deliverables. They will act as a liaison between the asset team and the fund team to help with distributions, funding requests and other deliverables in a timely and accurate manner. The Accountant accountant will report to the Fund Controller and must be able to operate in a very fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative environment. The Accountant will actively engage with senior leadership and must be a team player, self-starter, well organized, detail oriented and have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and coordinate monthly distributions from properties up to the funds

  • Assist with and coordinate monthly Capex requests from the fund down to the properties

  • Assist the asset management team with the quarterly valuation process of underlying investments

  • Maintain fair value books at the property level for fund and asset reporting

  • Work with BI team to help coordinate processes in Yardi related to information transmission between properties and fund

  • Work with the fund accounting team to reconcile the cash from the properties for distribution to LP's

  • Work closely with fund team and fund controller to prepare partner allocations and fund level distributions

  • Assist fund team and controller in preparation of investor capital calls as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • Advanced MS Excel skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of cash flow statement preparation

  • Demonstrated understanding of property-level accounting activities, such as replacement reserves, capital expenditures, and other non-operating cash flow items (i.e. lender reserves)

  • Ability to prioritize and manage communication in a timely manner

  • Ability to thrive in an environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Flexibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in property accounting preferred

  • Experience with Yardi preferred

The office is currently home to 100+ Cornerstone employees primarily on our Finance, Engineering and Client Success teams. We are currently recruiting for senior and staff-level positions in all departments and have plans to triple in size over the next few years. The office is led by industry veteran Trish Coughlin, Chief Accounting Officer, who has 25+ years leading world-class Finance teams. The Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely reporting of the balance sheet and income statement line items, for both internal and external stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant to assist in the various elements of the financial close (monthly, quarterly and year end). This individual will be an owner of specific sub-processes, including preparing general ledger account reconciliations all the way through completion of supporting schedules for 10-Q and 10-K disclosures and international statutory accounts. Additionally, the role involves liaising with our auditors as well as internal stakeholders, such as Tax and FP&A teams. The Senior Accountant is expected to work effectively with team members within Accounting and across departments to effect changes and complete special projects required as part of company-wide goals and objectives.
