As an accountant, you will be analyzing diverse and complex information for timely and accurate reporting that will be used by management in their decision-making process. You will report any variances and trend in production costs to our manufacturing managers and advise and discuss ideas to help lower those costs. You will evaluate and report on trends of various data types from multiple divisions. Our accountant are also responsible for developing and maintaining systems and controls, like ASI, Infinium, KRONOS, Vertex, Best, Logility, etc., to ensure the integrity of our financial data. This role will also supervise clerical staff, develop, and maintain product costs, manage projects, control cash disbursements through payroll and accounts payable, file tax returns and oversee cash applications to customer accounts. You will also be required to perform all duties in accordance with GAAP, FASB, and federal, state and local taxing authority standards. This is a customer facing role as well. Our accounting team is tasked with helping customers identify methods to help lower their tax liabilities on purchases, and analyze, discuss and resolve any invoicing and credit memo discrepancies. You will also work with our vendors to determine payment schedules, discount structures, and handle invoice discrepancies.
Accountant Key Responsibilities:
Manages information flow in conjunction with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) auditors and independent accounting firms. Coordinates audits with state and local auditors. Establishes and maintains these external relationships in order toenhance communication and to provide a clear understanding of AMERICAN's operations. The success or failure of audit cooperation and planning affects profitability by increasing or decreasing tax liability and audit adjustments to financial records.
Develops and maintains inventory costs by analyzing raw material consumption, purchase prices, production volume variances, labor, and overhead rates. Analyzes and explains fluctuations in inventory balances.
Analyzes accounts and data and take appropriate action for reconciliation
Maintains a database of corporate fixed assets, handle depreciation according to IRS and GAAP regulations while also managing proper capitalization or expense treatment.
Works on multiple projects at a time with changing priorities due to the dynamic nature of the financial closing schedule.
Works with information systems to identify areas of improvement, critical issues and tasks, and ensure issues are resolved. Writes queries, program specifications, and audit programs to validate integrity and accuracy of electronic information systems.
