Summary/Objective

The Accountant position is responsible for processing payroll, preparing month end and other related reports, processing vendor invoices, assisting the accounting department in creating accurate and timely financial records and performing other accounting related responsibilities for the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Process Payroll in an accurate and timely manner

  • Calculate commissions and overtime premiums following FLSA guidelines

  • Approve timecards and time off requests

  • Process expense reports in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with department procedures.

  • Review records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts

  • Prepare error free, daily accounting reports on production

  • Process vendor invoicing in a timely manner

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financials

  • Perform audits as needed

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions

Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting principles and GAAP

  • Highly analytical and able to give accounting advice to various departments

  • Business acumen and financial management

  • Familiarity with State and local wage laws

  • Collaboration skills

  • Communication proficiency

  • Ethical conduct

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field

  • CPA license is a plus

  • Proficient in Excel

  • Proficiency in ADP and other payroll services

  • 5 or more years of accounting experience

This role has a focus on fixed asset and inventory accounting and works closely with other team members to achieve team goals and objectives. The ideal candidate is a proven self-starter who has previous accounting experience within a manufacturing environment and is familiar with ERP systems. This is a contract opportunity with a projected duration of 3-6 months. Responsibilities: * Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations for a variety of general ledger accounts according to monthly close schedule. * Management of the Fixed Asset process, policy and procedures. * Support Sr. Manager, Cost Accounting with month-end close and ad-hoc projects. * Prepares schedules for audits by internal and external parties. * Communicates with various departments, including Project Management, Sales, Client Services, and Operations, to obtain information about the status of projects. * Performs assigned responsibilities in accordance with company procedures. Requirements: * High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred. * Minimum of 0-2 years of meaningful experience in Accounting. * Good understanding of accounting functions and related internal controls including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets and inventory. * Previous hands-on ERP experience preferred. Company currently uses QAD. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Advanced Excel skills are a plus. * Detail oriented, with strong organization and prioritization skills, and the ability to work independently. * Willingness to assist team members with tasks and ad-hoc projects, and go the extra mile when necessary. * Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization (including management and cross functional groups).
