Accountant 3

The Position

Accountants are responsible for preparing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

This position is with the Department of Business & Industry, Housing Division in Carson City. Under the direction of the Chief Accountant, the Accountant 3 will be responsible for preparing financial statements for assigned bond programs according to GAAP, as well as all supporting schedules and reconciliations associated to those financials.

Assist in providing information to outside auditors and the State Controller. Cost of Issuance, program fee tracking, billing and reconciliation of federal grant programs as assigned. Periodically assigned special projects involving analysis, review, and calculation requiring a clear understanding of GAAP and Grant Accounting.
