The Department of Labor & Industry has a rewarding career opportunity available for an Accountant 1 in the Financial Management Division of the State Workers' Insurance Fund (SWIF). As an Accountant 1, you will be responsible for utilizing Treasury's reporting software to obtain necessary reports to create monthly cash journals. This position enters all investment activity and other financial transactions that are processed outside of SWIF's insurance system into the general ledger software. A primary responsibility of this position will be aiding in the preparation and/or analysis of management reports and financial statements.  Working with Accountant 2s will be included in your duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) up to full-time with office visits as required. in order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the office located in Scranton.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Technician, and fifteen college credits in accounting; or

  • Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program; or

  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee; or

  • Five years of Bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting; or 

  • A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
