Summary of Work
The primary function of the position is to perform duties relating to the Secretary of State's Accounting Unit. Work duties include:
Reconcile bank accounts, receive payments, and prepare daily deposits.
Reconcile credit card payments to office-wide computer database and prepare deposits.
Receive and prepare billing statements and invoices.
Follow agency procedures for the completion of various accounting functions.
Interact with customers by phone, email, in-person, or mail.
Using the office-wide computer database for input and retrieval.
Serve as backup for the completion of payroll duties.
Assist in reviewing, approving, filing, and maintaining notary public documents in accordance with state law and office procedures and guidelines.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of directly related accounting, bookkeeping, budgeting, or payroll experience. College or vocational education with courses in accounting or bookkeeping may substitute for the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Work experience performing daily accounting functions.
Work experience reconciling bank accounts and preparing bank deposits.
Work experience responding to customer questions and requests by correspondence, phone, email, or in-person.
Work experience performing data entry in computer databases.
Work experience with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
