Position Overview

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare issue-based data analyses and assist sales reps in presenting findings/recommendations to clients.

  • Build strong, long-term relationships with new clients and uncover new buying centers.

  • Provide training to new clients on NPD's tools and services.

  • Identify trends using NPD's POS and Consumer products, introduce new services, and make program recommendations.

  • Act as cross industry trend watcher/adviser for Luxury.

  • Translate and create the client/category/industry specific stories from Luxury data.

  • Assist in building presentations for clients and retailers.

  • Develop and support media calendar, articles, and releases.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in account management, market research, and/or solution selling.

  • Candidates with advertising agency, account management, luxury experience a plus.

  • Ability to work with POS/consumer panel data to generate impactful and engaging analyses and presentations.

  • Strong writing skills ability to turn data into succinct stories.

  • Track record of managing multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Expert in all MS Office products, Excel, PowerPoint, & Word.

  • Bachelor's degree.

If you enjoy working with clients to influence their business solutions, this job is for you. This integral member of the NPD team will report directly to the Director in the Retail Business Group. Our Retail Business Group team is currently seeking an Account Specialist who will be accountable for delivering actionable insights and increasing the use of data for a set of key retail clients in the fashion industry. The primary function is to support the ongoing needs of various teams at these retailers by helping them make fact-based decisions using NPD data. This role will focus on mining and analyzing data for insights, leading to suggested recommendations for the client. This is a client-facing position which requires the ability to work in a team setting. This position will be based in our Port Washington office and will require some travel. Overall Responsibilities: * Enhance NPD's relationship with the retail clients through day-to-day servicing * Provide market performance reporting, data analysis, market share opportunities, insights and customer support for the client * Design, prepare and deliver concise, actionable presentations with direction from your supervisor * Manage and track projects from initial request through completion, providing updates on a regular basis * Respond to client requests, by leveraging existing databases, client and industry knowledge * Work with client contacts and internal NPD teams to integrate our data into the retailer's decision-making processes * Accurately interpret data and clearly articulate findings to both internal and external audiences * Partner with internal cross-functional departments in both client work and internal assignments * Provide client training and support on NPD tools * Assist in tracking and delivering measurable business results from the retailer's use of NPD data * Build knowledge of various retail industries and share internally at NPD and externally with the client Qualifications: * 3+ years in client service, analyst role, retail inventory planning, merchant analyst, retail buyer, market research, POS or Consumer data or equivalent. Category Management or Key Account experiences within a manufacturer or retailer a plus * Proven success and high comfort level in mining and analyzing data * Must be detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and formatting in deliverables * Ability to manage multiple projects across several businesses, prioritize appropriately and meet tight deadlines * Strong oral and written communication skills * Expert in all MS Office products (Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Word). * Knowledge of NPD proprietary software or work with other database platforms is a plus * Travel (<20%)</li> * BA/BS or equivalent. Communication The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand and interpret business questions from the client or supervisor and then leverage the appropriate products and services to help address the business question or issue. Discipline The ideal candidate will be competent in managing their time and activities to meet deadlines. Candidates must possess a 'can-do' perspective in their professional attitude. They will be detail oriented and demonstrate a strong work ethic, as well as strong analytic skills. An individual who can think outside the box, and come up with unique ways to address business questions will be most successful in this role. They will be sticklers for accuracy in their own work as well as their colleagues. They will be ready to back up their assertions with facts.
