DEPARTMENT: Finance

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: Performs a variety of finance and office functions and studies which require both analytical skills and the ability to organize, process and track large quantities of data.

Maintains appropriate records, identifies anomalies and trends, prepares corresponding reports within deadlines, and is expected to regularly review operations to recommend improvements in controls, procedures and automation. Work is performed relatively independently and in accordance with prescribed procedures and under general supervision. This analytical work requires extensive knowledge of the municipal organization and its activities along with an ability to get the cooperation of others to accomplish the assigned tasks.

May instruct or supervise activities of others, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc. Does related work as required.

Qualifications

(a) A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field; OR (b) An Associate's degree in Accounting or related field; PLUS Two (2) years of progressively responsible financial management experience; OR (c) Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma issued by the State Education Department of New York; PLUS Four (4) years of the above stated experience.
