Job Summary

The Account Operations Specialist is responsible for all aspects of investment account servicing and problem solving for high net worth clients and intermediaries. There is heavy client service and custodian interaction with an extremely high-volume of email and telephone communication. The ideal candidate must be able to work both independently with excellent time management skills as well as collaborate and effectively interact as a team member. This is a high-pressured, deadline-oriented position that requires a high level of diplomacy and integrity.

Essential Job Functions for the Account Operations Specialist will include:

  • Assisting compliance and our M&A teams making sure integrations are seamless for new mergers

  • Overseeing custodian permission levels and assisting with creating, monitoring and disabling usernames across custodians as needed

  • Reviewing and delegating tasks to traders, internal operations teams, and outside vendors

  • Managing department documentation and updating as needed

  • Working closely with the Compliance Department by implementing compliance standards

  • Facilitating strong relationships with business partners as point of contact for custodians, representing Mercer Advisors on a day-to-day basis

  • Supporting client services by managing client documentation and mailings to Mercer Advisors chosen custodians

  • Supporting client service teams by researching and advising on IRS regulations, custodian requirements, and Mercer's investment policy guidelines; setting appropriate expectations to be communicated to clients

  • Assisting current members of the Account Operations team in monetary requests, submitting and following up on all client requested money movements, deposits and transfers, ensuring accurate processing, troubleshooting and resolving any discrepancies

  • Auditing accounts for unusual or unanticipated withdrawals alerting client services to account activity

  • Other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred (preferably Business, Economics, Accounting or Finance related)

  • Prior experience in financial services preferred

  • Excellent communications skills with a strong ability to prioritize, multi-task and troubleshoot

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 4:00PM

Working Conditions

Professional office environment, daytime hours, working inside, standing, and sitting, will be assigned to a work station, no heavy lifting over 10 lbs.
