Created due to our recent growth, the Account Manager-Health Insurance Underwriter will have an important role in the ongoing success of our practice. With annualized organic growth of over 20% for the past 12 years, we have numerous clients and prospects that depend on our consultants for their success. This position will interact with all members of our staff as well as many clients. The primary challenges are the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time, the ability to interact with people with varied personalities and communication styles, and the flexibility to adjust resources as needed. Training and support are provided both corporately and locally. This position will have minimal travel requirements, if any. Some of the specific duties are listed below:

  • Prepare rating and plan design quotes within Milliman's underwriting models

  • Sales training and relationship manager of client's sales staff

  • Ensure proposals are of highest accuracy and delivered on time

  • Establish process and vehicles for underwriting submissions

  • Provide feedback with opportunities for improvement in our rating models, processes or client interaction


  • Preparing client deliverables (reports, letters, presentations) primarily with MS Excel and Word

  • Responding to client requests for advice, information, explanations, or schedules through phone and e-mail

  • Working with large insurance carriers such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, United HealthCare, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana to collect data and other reports

  • Exceptional administrative, organization and business skills. Friendly and engaging personality that enjoys meeting various types of people from all areas of the country.

  • Natural attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects

  • Ability to work independently within a team-based environment

  • Flexibility within a customer first attitude

  • Previous experience in underwriting capacity a plus but not required

This position is responsible for the operations related to the University Student Health Insurance Plan. The Student Health Insurance Coordinator serves as a liaison, and advocate for students and their dependents in regards to their insurance coverage, oversees regular communication between University Administration and students, and serves as the primary problem solver as issues arise from the campus community. Primary Responsibilities: * Collaborate with the University Bursar, Registrar, IT Services and Web Services departments to ensure smooth processes throughout the insurance plan year * Facilitate the enhancement and implementation of the annual online USHIP student enrollment and waiver process * Coordinate the administrative aspects of a competitive bid process for USHIP and the optional insurance plans * Maintain the University Student Health Insurance Administration Tool, which tracks students' annual enrollment and waivers into / out of USHIP * Interface effectively with all the University customers (students and / or their dependents, Administrators, and Student Health Center staff,) while clearly presenting UnitedHealthcare StudentResources' position on all topics * Act as a day to day liaison between all entities by providing walk in and telephonic customer service support to all University customers * Assist in resolution of any insured / and / or provider billing issues * Understand and educate students regarding current plan design, policies and procedures * Coordinate and attend on-campus service related functions / meetings, including Orientations, Health Fairs and In - Service Information Sessions as needed * Effectively interface with all internal UHCSR departments toward the common goal of providing exceptional customer service to the University students and Administration (including but not limited to Claims, Customer Service, Legal and Sales / Service Departments) to ensure that the Company's short and long term goals are met * Learn and demonstrate knowledge of all phases of claims processing, including enrollment management, the appeal process, the pre - determination process, and contract interpretation of plan benefits and policy provisions * Assist with the enrollment / waiver process. This assistance may extend to researching eligibility issues * Assist in the development and distribution of pertinent communications material to the Client and to UHCSR * Any other duties required by the University to assist with the Insurance Plan You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
