POSITION TITLE: Account Manager

  • Sales, Pricing & Compliance Support (National Accounts On Premise)


The Account Manager

  • Sales, Pricing & Sales Support will maximize the sale of supplier brands to ensure achievement of company and supplier volume, distribution, compliance and promotion objectives among the assigned account list.



  • Establishing priority brand sales objectives for each National Account and for each sales call that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Stretching and Harmonious (SMASH) and will result in achievement of supplier volume and program goals.

  • Identifying and reporting new opportunities for LTOs and Drink Features

  • Preparing professional sales presentations for each call tailored to current supplier programs and the needs of the customer.

  • Follow the established guidelines for a complete sales call.

  • Deliver effective sales presentations that achieve company and supplier sales objectives.

  • Know in depth the features and benefits of supplier products and programs compared to competition.

  • Obtain appropriate distribution as directed by management of supplier brands, and types and sizes within assigned accounts.

  • Gain feature price promotion and display support from the assigned accounts list.

  • Develop positive customer relations by calling all assigned accounts on a scheduled basis.

  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate account records and well organized inventories of information and supplies needed to support sales activities.

  • Present the complete portfolio and current programs generating maximum dollar and case sales volume

  • Maintaining 100% program compliance with current brand mandates and provide recommendations and solutions to secure optional POD's within assigned accounts.

  • Work with General Market Sales Team to coordinate and design location specific activation strategies and staff training

  • Conduct regular invoice pricing reviews to ensure all pricing is correct and accurate.


  • Communicate all sales issues and opportunities for their respective area of responsibility.


EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 2 to 3 years of sales experience in the beverage alcohol industry preferred.

  • Store level Sales/Merchandising experience preferred

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess valid driver's license


  • Knowledge of specific customer's business operations and ability to coordinate multiple and diverse options for selling the organization's products and services to each.

  • Knowledge of specific products and associated development process and strategy.

  • Proven abilities to develop selling strategies targeted to enhance store level wine and spirit sales (ie. Point of Sales Materials, Drink Menu Planning, Drink Feature Development, etc.).

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to work with management and customers throughout the business and industry at every level

Responsible for developing programs with their national accounts, and providing support and sales management for their respective national accounts at the branch and regional level. Working with GM's and RVP's to assure we are maximizing national account opportunities. Lead and support the field sales teams in selling building materials, millwork, and other building products to national pro dealer chains, specialty distributors and buying groups. Assists the sales team with driving the company's priorities and strategies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Corporate ownership of assigned national accounts. * Develop and maintain relationships with national account senior management and purchasing contacts. * Development of programs to support growth and profitability of all Huttig products. * Travels throughout the regions to call on national account customers to solicit programs and new business. * Works closely with branches to resolve issues that may arise with respect to program details and pricing to meet objectives and goals. * Travel to attend regional and branch meetings in support of national accounts sales and programs. * Ability to create and deliver effective programs and presentations to national account senior management. * Provide monthly updates on progress, opportunities and challenges with national accounts. * Attend and support national account trade shows and meetings where appropriate. * Prepares annual sales budget for respective national accounts with guidance from VP of National Accounts. * Provides market intelligence on competitive situations and threats as well as new product opportunities. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * Minimum of a Bachelor's degree preferred or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to read/write, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations and business correspondence. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. * Mathematical skills and reasoning ability.
