An Account Manager is responsible for expanding business opportunities within assigned accounts identify, develop, close, and successfully manage client opportunities across all Pivotal business lines. This position reports to the Director, Business Development. What you will do:
  • Lead efforts in building the overall client relationship in existing accounts including relevant pre-sales activities, building senior management client relationships, qualifying leads/opportunities, understanding requirements, delivering presentations and proposals, and closing new or follow-on business.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for clients and consultants within assigned accounts.
  • Work with Pivotal leadership and Director, Business Development to develop and implement pricing strategies.
  • Execute sales strategy in conjunction with Director, Business Development and Pivotals leadership team; specific responsibilities to be outlined by leadership as part of the overall account plan.
  • Become a trusted advisor and strategic account management/business development point of contact with clients.
  • Identify and convert client business goals and objectives into project wins.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet and/or exceed client expectations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key client/partner/stakeholders to ensure effective communication channels exist and client/partner satisfaction is achieved.
  • Become an expert in the clients business and knowledgeable in key client initiatives.
  • Foster Pivotals consultant community at account site through meetings, lunches, and events.
  • Articulate Pivotals value proposition to clients and consultants.
What makes you a good fit:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience and demonstrated skills in account management, business development, sales cycle, delivery, and negotiation.
  • Experience selling deal sizes from $10,000 to $1MM and managing the business development process from pre- to post-sales.
  • Proven track record of client satisfaction and delivery.
  • Solid track record of identifying, winning, and developing enterprise accounts.
  • Must be able to define and manage sales strategies and campaigns to differentiate our offerings from competitors.
  • Excellent understanding of related client accounts industry and key business drivers.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated drive to grow and consistently improve company sales.
  • Extensive problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of clients and organizations.

This position will represent the client in all interactions with Creative Communications and other service providers. This position will plan and implement concurrent and frequently competing project production schedules and priorities.</p><p>Position Complexities:</p><p>Work independently, and as a team member, to manage all aspects of a clients' communications project, from establishing client relationships to coordinating the completion of projects, supporting Creative Communications in it's $12M annual business lines.</p><p>Position Dimensions and Impact to University:</p><p>This position requires interaction with all levels of staff and faculty on campus. The functions supported by this position is critical in supporting Creative Communication's mission and meeting all the communications needs of its clients.</p><p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p><p>40%- Communications Planning</p><p>Participate in creating marketing strategy with academic and administrative unit staff members to develop communications objectives, define target audiences, and track budgetary milestones. Using a comprehensive understanding of graphic communications, consult with clients about use of electronic media, websites, social media, direct mail and print material, licensed products, and emerging marketing methods.</p><p>Work with key staff members of other departments to create marketing identity programs, develop graphic standards for these programs, and ensure compliance of all projects with these standards.</p><p>Develop comprehensive project specifications and solicit, review, and approve estimates from multiple vendors and internal resources. Assess estimates against long- and short-term budgetary plans.</p><p>Develop detailed project proposals to support client funding and planning efforts.</p><p>30%- Client Relationship Management</p><p>Manage successful client relationships with frequent, proactive communication; by serving in advisory role throughout the life of the project, and providing expertise on a wide range of communication products.</p><p>Perform outreach to potential and existing clients to educate them about products and services that Creative Communications offers that help them with their departmental needs.</p><p>Act as client liaison with internal and external graphic design resources, web developers, photographers, writers, editors, print vendors, and Creative Communications in-plant.</p><p>Represent Creative Communications at departmental meetings.</p><p>20%- Project Coordination</p><p>Recruit and coordinate project teams, which may include clients; graphic designers, consultants through the Creative Communications' Creative Consultants Network - designers, photographers, illustrators, writers, and editors; web developers; and production representatives. Provide quality control and assurance during production cycle of each project.</p><p>Evaluate the effectiveness and quality of completed projects. Plan for changes to be incorporated into future projects.</p><p>Manage directly or delegate coordination of projects through the creative process of design and the production processes of desktop publishing/electronic prepress, printing or web development, and distribution.</p><p>Negotiate and manage vendor involvement through project life cycles. Authorize modifications within budget and schedule parameters. Using problem-solving skills, resolve design and production issues.</p><p>Coordinate negotiation and award of long-term project contracts for strategic publications and program.</p><p>10%- Participate in marketing strategy and outreach efforts with campus clients.</p><p>Lead Responsibilities: Recruit and coordinate project teams that may include clients, designers, programmers, agency creatives, electronic publishing, and production representatives. May lead students.</p><p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</p><p>Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications, English, or a related field or equivalent experience.</p><p>Two years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: marketing, advertising, or communications planning, client service experience in a complex institutional environment, publications design, website production, copy writing, preparing and distributing direct marketing materials.</p><p>Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.</p><p>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS</p><p>An understanding of communications planning, graphic design, web and electronic media production, desktop publishing, and print production techniques; experience preparing materials for printing.</p><p>The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of individuals.</p><p>Thorough understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook Express, and PowerPoint.</p><p>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS</p><p>Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines.</p><p>Participated in a work environment using LEAN or a similar structured process improvement system.</p><p>Experience working with an industry MIS system, such as EFI Pace.</p><p>Application Process: The application process for UW positions may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process. <br><br> These assessments may include Work Authorization, Cover Letter and/or others.
