Job Summary

Based in San Jose, CA the Account Manager will manage 5 to 10 accounts with the goal of driving Laird's Performance Material's business, in Northern California, toward a $55M goal by 2020. This individual contributor role will develop and execute aggressive sales strategies to find and ensure profitable revenue growth across the next wave of strategic customers. The role is expected to develop into the next generation of Laird leadership. Coach-ability and humility to balance a drive to be successful is a must.


  • Manage all aspects of focused accounts to close business in multi-level sales situations

  • Develop new business relationships and customers by presenting Laird, its products, and capabilities

  • Creation of Blue, Gold Sheet, and Playbooks capturing customer needs, strategy, relationship matrix, and milestones for both short (1 18 months) and long term (18 months to 3 years) action plans

  • Provide strategic direction with FAE's and distribution on addressing customer needs and objectives

  • Achieve goals through clear communication of objectives, actions, and measurable results for all products within Performance Materials

  • Sales reporting through monthly executive summaries including financials and forecasting. This includes account projections, action plans, (SFDC) CRM, QBR's and NBO reviews

  • Program Manager and Strategist responsible for leading a global effort to ensure revenue realization

  • Design Win Moderator responsible for entering and tracking within SFDC design registration system

  • Develop with Regional Sales Manager strategies, programs, and directional changes using data driven analysis of current market and activity

  • Adhere to Laird ethics, quality, and safety standards


  • Geographically located in Northern California

  • Strong management, leadership and entrepreneurial skills to execute tactical and strategic objectives

  • Runs effective sales calls and can explain what an effective sales call contains

  • Demonstrated strategic account ownership and closing business as primary responsibility

  • Experience working with distribution channel partners

  • Strong business and analytical skills to manage budgets

  • Ability to work with product management and engineering on initiatives driven by customers

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to gain customer alignment, internal agreement, and program commitments

Education & Experience Requested

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years' Sales experience, Communications field, and/or Electronics background (preferred)

Primary Responsibilities: * Business Review Prep- gathers info, develops presentation, review and have print ready * Participates in client presentations; either in person or via phone as needed * Manage action and follow up items from Business Review and Steering Meetings * Provide oversight of Business and Site Audits * Provide oversight of Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity plans for several applications * Manage Change Control Process end to end * Manage Client Invoicing Process * Manage Remediation and Exceptions Process * Assist in Managing Account Level Contractual Requirements * Tracking/reporting to client around SLA's/Performance Guarantees - take operational information provided and ensure communication to client * Ability to establish and develop relationship with day to day contacts at the client. Is the point person for escalated service issues for defined solution set within client and solves day-to-day client service issues directly or by leading internal cross-functional teams to a solution * Monitoring of open service issues within their book of business and ensuring timely completion * Identify trends (issues of a similar nature across multiple clients or similar issues within a specific client) and then escalating as appropriate. Provides input to client manager and/or leadership around health solutions for specific clients or book of business * Diagnose root cause of service issues for specific clients. Collaborates with Product, Operations, and Client Managers to develop solutions to root causes as needed * Document and report service escalation/risk management issues * Identify and gather information for client reports; review reports for client-specific information and that the report meets client expectations, and ensures delivery of reports to client or client managers. May serve as liaison with the client when customized reports are requested * Maintains up-to-date client information in Optum systems, such as client issue tracking,, Sharepoint, etc. Required Qualifications: * Minimum 5 years-experience in Healthcare Service/Acct Mgt.
