What You'll Get to Do:

This position is responsible for creating demand for Industrial Automation Sales (IAS), a member of Panasonic Industrial Devices Sales of America (PIDSA), under Panasonic North America. The IAS Regional Sales Manager is responsible for developing demand for Panasonic automation products, technically supporting a limited number of targeted accounts in the territory, and successfully managing the distributor relationship within the assigned region in order to develop and maximize the sale of IAS products to end users. Strong personal relationships and selling skills, technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of industrial automation products and services are used to initiate action to get IA products designed in and ordered at OEM and end user accounts.

Drive Demand Creation:

  • Prospect, Identify, Prioritize, and TARGET customers in the Region.

  • Develop STRATEGIC sales plans for KEY Accounts

  • Expand sales at existing customers in the Region

Manage Existing Relationships & Strategies:

  • Design-in activity at TARGET customers buying through distribution channels.

  • Analyze and maintain regional sales data and when appropriate, assigned vertical industry information

  • Manage opportunity pipeline (increase size, number, and capture rate of opportunities).

  • Manage Panasonic team resources and activities in the region.

  • Provides or arranges technical support for distributors and customers for IAS products

Manage Distributors in the assigned region in support of the goals above and to achieve divisional goals and objectives. Coordinate activities with Distributor branches in region.

Establish a sales plan for the territory adhering to divisional goals and objectives Forecast fiscal year budget and month-to-plan; accurate PSI, FLASH. Manage finances (assure collection ratio in line with IAS goals, minimize credit losses, minimize inventory losses). CRM Reporting (account profile, project management, contact management).

Lead geographic area/group sales strategies and revenue generation in alignment with overall divisional and corporate goals; follow up on new leads, grow accounts, identify & create new business opportunities (NBOs), and close NBOs to a sale.

What You'll Bring:


  • Manage contracted Manufacturer Reps, if any

  • Manage Dealers/Distributors

  • Coordinate activities with Dealer/Distribution branches

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of successful full-cycle sales experience selling a technical product line, preferably industrial automation products, various local vertical markets. Sales or technical experience with Programmable Logic Controller, Human Machine Interface, Motion Control and Servos, or Industrial Sensors is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field strongly preferred or equivalent relevant work experience. Working knowledge of mechanical, electronic and electrical engineering concepts and terms.

  • Proven strong background of direct selling to customers and managing dealer/distributor relationship.

  • Key industry contacts / relationships within assigned region and industry markets. Strong written, negotiation, and oral communication capabilities, including major presentations to high level internal/external contacts.

  • Strong sales discipline and negotiation capabilities; strong interpersonal relationship building skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Capable of managing a large territory and knowledgeable of assigned region.

Other Requirements:

  • overnight travel is 30%. 70% travel visiting customers mainly in the CT & MA area.

  • May be required to wear protective gear when visiting customer/vendor work sites.

SMASH is committed to eliminating the barriers faced by underrepresented people of color in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and fostering their untapped talent for the advancement of our nation.</p><p>Founded in 2001, SMASH (<a href="" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>) is an Oakland-based nonprofit organization that operates SMASH Academy, a year-round STEM-focused academic program that serves underrepresented high school students. A research-based organization, SMASH informs and leverages research projects examining inequity in access and opportunity across K-12, higher education, and workplace contexts in order to improve the outcomes for underrepresented students in STEM fields. SMASH is funded by private donors, foundations, and corporate giving and is currently expanding in exciting ways. </p><p>Working at SMASH is about fast growth, personal commitment and the tenacity to challenge the status quo. Join us.</p><p><strong>The Opportunity:</strong></p><p>Reporting to the Program Director, the Site Director (SD) will serve as the Director for the SMASH Academy at Northeastern University. The SD is responsible for building, sustaining and improving the transformative educational experience that SMASH Scholars need to pursue, persist and succeed in STEM. SMASH site instructional, residential and operations seasonal teams will report to the SD. SMASH site size ranges from 30 to 100 rising 10th through 12th grade students. SDs, with the help of the Central Office, are responsible for hiring, training and overseeing the site teams, typically between 15 to 30 staff members, along with student recruitment responsibilities and admissions decisions. The SD provides leadership, vision and direction to SMASH Scholars, their parents and other community constituent groups aligned with the SMASH mission. With SMASH’s latest growth strategy and impact initiatives, this person will be critical to the Programs Team with the scaling of SMASH and placing it squarely on the map of national models. </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><p><strong>Program Management (60%)</strong></p><ul> <li>Build, implement and sustain a vision of commitment to high standards and the success of all SMASH Scholars at respective program site</li> <li>Oversee the various components of a year-round academic enrichment program, including a five-week residential program at the host university/college, while actively developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, e.g. SMASH leadership, Scholar and Family Community, University Partners, Corporate Partners, Donors, etc.</li> <li>Hire and directly supervise Residential Director, Lead Instructor and Program Coordinator</li> <li>Support the Lead Instructor with (in tandem with Curriculum + Instruction Director):<ul> <li>Hiring and performance management of Instructors</li> <li>Classroom reservations, logistics, supplies and activities planning</li> <li>Administration and proctoring of assessments</li> </ul> </li> <li>Support the Residential Director with:<ul> <li>Hiring and performance management of Residential Advisors</li> <li>Planning and implementation of SMASH Academy residential programming</li> <li>Enforce program policy and actively manage scholar behavior</li> </ul> </li> </ul><ul> <li>Lead recruitment and admissions processes of SMASH Scholars</li> <li>Plan and facilitate program events and activities throughout the academic year and SMASH Academy, including field trips, supporting CS Saturday Academy, workshops and volunteer opportunities</li> <li>Uphold academic rigor and program code of conduct</li> <li>Facilitate and manage all site processes, operations and logistics</li> <li>Work with Accounting and SMASH Program Director to establish site budget;
