Responsible for selling industrial packaging products to existing customers and prospective clients. Maintain existing business and assist Business Unit Sales/Marketing management to achieve new sales.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates with existing customers and manages accounts to ensure customer satisfaction. Maintains Greif's existing business by developing and presenting "value propositions" to existing customers.

  • Interfaces with Greif employees in functional areas including but not limited to Production, Customer Service, Accounts Receivable and Shipping in order to provide customer satisfaction.

  • Interacts with and assists Business Unit Sales/Marketing management to achieve new sales.

  • Creates detailed proposals and quotes.

  • Delivers samples/prototypes to customers.

  • Completes and updates sales related paperwork.

  • Travels within territory as required.

  • Maintains good working relationships with Greif plants that service customers in the assigned territory.

  • Incorporates and maintains safety observances, including but not limited to, use of all PPE, ensuring guards and safety features are working, and promoting good daily safety practices and habits.

  • If business unit is CLCM, will negotiate for raw materials.

  • May solicit requests for quotes

  • For under-performing accounts, may execute re-pricing action where possible, substitute with higher pocket margin specification or otherwise, re-price to achieve target pocket margin.

  • May interface with plant to determine lost and new customer opportunities (e.g., customer segment, value propositions).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or proven track record in this industry.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Over 5 years industrial sales experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, planning and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to perform cold customer calls and follow-up on leads.

  • Negotiation skills are required.

Responsibilities: * Perform a day to day review and processing of requisitions as assigned. * Perform data order entry into Applied's and customer's systems to obtain quotes, issue purchase orders, and maintain the blanket purchase orders for the relevant business. * Evaluate and resolve changes in part numbers through MSSR function, manufacturers or changes to fit, form, and function. Work with customer personnel to obtain approval of changes prior to material receipt. Notify customer of items that are obsolete or discontinued. * Partner with the customer to identify products needed and problem solve. * Continually identify duplicate stock codes or product. * Maintain lead times for those items on the look ahead. * Work with service centers to collect information on weekly backlog and past due reports. * Work with service centers and customers to expedite orders. * Provide product sourcing assistance and continually pursue products within our scope of supply. * Work directly with warehouse personnel and service centers to resolve receiving issues * Resolve, monitor, and track all product warranty issues with the service center. * Track cost savings achieved by Applied and documented value add to our customers. Requirements * 2+ years' proven sales and/or customer service experience with a tangible product OR purchasing mechanic, tool crib, and/or maintenance experience preferrably in an indusrial or parts counter environment * Relationship-building skills at all levels with customers and prospect organizations * Hands-on product demonstrations for customers and prospects; mechanical aptitude * Self starter, work independently, problem solving, accuracy, sense or urgency, sense of humor * High school diploma or equivalent * Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are essential * ERP/SAP experience, preferred * Power transmission, automation controls, and/or industrial distribution product knowledge a plus Benefits: As an Account Specialist with Applied Industrial Technologies, you will be part of a stable and established company with consistently strong performance and growth.
