We excel at providing great products, superior customer service, customized Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs, product testing, and engineering solutions for our valued clients. More than half of the items we supply are specifically engineered for our clients' unique applications, and many are non-fastener items such as stampings, molded plastics and composites, mechanical assemblies, kits of various configurations, fittings, private labeled products, and many more. We work with over 800 suppliers from around the globe to offer clients a one-stop shop for all of their Assembly component needs.

We are currently seeking a motivated professional to join our team as an Account Manager in our Livonia, MI office. Account Managers are responsible for growing sales with existing clients and providing support that ensures appropriate alignment with our clients' needs, our organizational goals, and market conditions. In this role, you will work closely with all functions of the supply chain, including our colleagues on the Quality & Engineering teams.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the primary point of contact with the customer, or in collaboration and with a Program Manager, the Account Manager will:

  • Identify and execute new opportunities to increase margin and revenue through profitable sales growth with assigned accounts and targeted increase of wallet share

  • Monitor profitability of existing business, working with finance, supply chain, engineering, and customer to increase overall account profitability

  • Manage commercial issues including price negotiations, obsolescence and expedite fee recovery, receivable/accounting issues, and various other business topics

  • Negotiate contractual agreements with direction and approval of Commercial Services Manager, owning all obligations of agreements

  • Work closely with internal teams and departments to achieve target inventory turns and meet inventory goals for assigned accounts

  • Process, submit and follow up on customer quotations

  • Track progress of new business opportunities through pipeline management and reporting

  • Develop and maintain annual budget, monthly forecasts, and weekly forecasts vs. actual sales for assigned accounts with communication of expected changes to Sales Management

  • Conduct Contract/P.O. Review and Records Management per documented processes

  • Initiate and track to completion set up of customers and items

  • Manage customer pricing in system

  • Prepare, submit, and track customer drawing or specification changes, deviation requests, supplier change requests and buy authorizations

Responsibilities may include:

  • Face-to-face customer meetings and quarterly business reviews

  • Daily coordination of orders and material shipments and ASN's, entry/processing and management of incoming customer orders through shipment, including internal expedites with supply chain, QA, Operations and Logistics, including ISIR's and PPAP's

  • Analysis and communication of customer demand changes internally to Materials Management and externally to Customer when appropriate

  • Assistance in investigation and resolution of all customer concerns, working with Operations, Supply Chain, QA and Engineering as necessary to ensure closure, enter and track RMA's and replacement Customer orders as necessary

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES:

  • Strong sense of urgency and ownership with a commitment to working with customer and internal teams

  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal

  • Ability to negotiate and identify solutions that are in alignment with company strategies and goals and gain agreement from customer

  • Focus on attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines

  • Capacity to handle multiple detailed tasks with frequent interruptions

  • Strong organizational and follow up skills, ability to manage time and plan, flex and coordinate workload with shifting priorities

  • Ability to recognize potential problems, correctly identify actual problems, and to take the necessary steps to prevent or resolve problems

  • Analytical ability to gather and interpret data and relevant information and draw accurate conclusions

  • Proficient use of ERP system, Microsoft Word, Excel (v-lookup and pivot tables) and Outlook

  • Willingness and ability to be flexible and adapt to changing job requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree or equivalent professional experience

  • Must have 2+ years of inside sales related experience

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibility

  • Occasional travel is expected for this position

  • Business related travel expenses will be reimbursed
