Position Overview

Our B2B Technology team is seeking an Account Manager, Client Development. This integral member of the team will report to the Director, Client Development. He or She will drive revenue and provide fact-based insights and analyses for our accounts to ensure continued growth. Location: San Diego, or Virtual - US

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Understand the dynamics of your clients' organization and penetrate the account base to identify applications for NPD products and services.

  • Build strategic relationships and focus on expanding contacts in your client base in order to identify and network with new budget centers at accounts.

  • Utilize multiple data channels, including point-of-sale from Distribution, Reseller and VAR channels, to successfully partner with manufacturers to help them grow their business and ensure client satisfaction with their current investment(s).

  • Provide recommendations to client leadership teams and product management teams, on matters such as promotional success and strategic brand management, based on market research analysis.

  • Develop a strong comprehension of how the B2B manufacturers can utlize NPD data to grow their market share, which will in turn advance NPD's relationship and growth with the manufacturer.

  • Partner with cross-functional departments and teams at NPD to ensure success for the team and company.


  • Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years of experience within client services, account management or sales.

  • Ability to synthesize data and develop meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to generate/support creative ideas.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with a comfort level presenting to senior-level internal and external audiences.

  • Proven history of meeting and exceeding revenue goals.

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Passion for the Technology industry

  • Any of the following are a plus: category management experience within a manufacturer or retailer, prior experience within the B2B Technology channel and/or with NPD.

  • Travel typically 15-20%.

With the support of multiple internal resources, you will oversee the execution of campaign tactics. In addition, you will monitor performance and optimize execution and report progress to stakeholders. Your deep understanding of the Education and SMB messaging, value, and content will help you collaborate with the sales force to oversee planning and execution of marketing campaigns to increase awareness, demand generation, and pipeline. You'll also engage the sales force with resources to help them create new opportunities and grow existing business. Responsibilities: * Serve as the lead, marketing expert and strategist for the Education and SMB campaigns. * Lead the planning, development and execution of all Education and SMB campaign activities * Provide expertise to identify the appropriate account targets, messaging, value propositions, creatives, content, and collateral. * Work internally to develop compelling, high-impact campaigns and Account-Based Marketing (ABM) programs across multiple channels to successfully engage target accounts and generate pipeline/opportunities for the sales force. * Align marketing with sales to ensure demand generation campaigns and ABM programs are synchronized with business priorities, objectives and goals. * Develop recommendations and guidance on effective methods to target the Education and SMB markets based on past results and new research. * Lead the development of the digital buyer's journey for your campaigns and develop the personalization strategy for campaign and web messaging. * Engage the Education Sales teams and Channel sales team driving SMB with marketing assets and tools to help open doors and develop opportunities. * Meet regularly with sales managers and their teams to provide ongoing communications and updates. * Collaborate with other organizations which contribute to the success of Services marketing activities (such as Global Marketing, Events, Media, Web, Content/Messaging, etc.). * Stay on the cutting edge of marketing best practices by researching the latest trends and gathering new ideas from industry analysts and experts, vendors/agencies, and peers/competitors. * Help deliver insightful reporting and analytics that shows how marketing programs impact revenue; define and track key metrics to optimize marketing campaigns, help with dashboards, and deliver ad-hoc analyses as needed. Qualifications and Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field; Master of Business Administration (MBA) a plus. * 7+ years B2B marketing campaign experience; preferably in the technology industry. * Solid Experience with Account-Based Marketing (ABM) strategies, tactics, and technologies is a significant plus. * Deep understanding of campaign messaging, value propositions, assets and content marketing. * Experience driving creative development.
