Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Direct Mail Sales Representative to join our dynamic sales team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying potential clients, understanding their marketing needs, and providing tailored direct mail solutions that drive customer engagement and sales growth. Your goal will be to build long-term relationships with clients by offering exceptional service and innovative direct mail strategies.

What you will do:

  • Identify and prospect new clients who can benefit from our direct mail services

  • Conduct thorough needs analysis to understand clients' marketing objectives and challenges

  • Develop and present customized direct mail solutions that meet clients' specific needs

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships through regular communication and follow-up

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including design and production, to ensure timely and successful delivery of direct mail campaigns

  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to stay informed and provide clients with cutting-edge solutions

  • Achieve and exceed sales targets by effectively managing your sales pipeline and closing deals

  • Provide clients with accurate and timely information on campaign performance and make recommendations for improvement

  • Maintain detailed records of sales activities and client interactions in CRM systems

  • Attend industry events and networking opportunities to promote our services and expand your professional network

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in direct mail or related marketing services

  • Strong understanding of direct mail marketing strategies and best practices

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients

  • Results-oriented mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets

  • Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing related field preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales, with a focus on direct mail

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events

  • This is a remote role but you must reside in the state of Michigan.

The annual salary range is $50,000 - $65,000. This position is eligible for incentive compensation (commission) and cell phone reimbursement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).

The Oakland Press, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is a daily newspaper published in Oakland County, Michigan with headquarters in Troy. It is owned by 21st Century Media, the local historical society traces its origins to The Pontiac Gazette, founded in 1843. The paper has been published under various names, including The Pontiac Press, until it was renamed The Oakland Press in 1972. Original editorials and reporting, including major-sport beat writers, are also carried in the sister paper The Macomb Daily.
