POSITION OVERVIEW

Manages, sells and promotes import products, primarily fasteners, through key customer segments in a fast-paced environment. Responsible for managing and driving sales volume and profitability within this channel and developing strong relationships with target customers. This position is based in St. Louis, Missouri and reports to the Director, Supply Chain - Global Sourcing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and oversee the quoting and entering of import direct order business.

  • Monitor, evaluate and negotiate the total landed costs of orders across all supplier options.

  • Handle calls from existing customers and pursue new business opportunities.

  • Work closely with Huttig DCs and their GMs/Sales Managers to provide updates on direct orders, new sales opportunities (fill in business for open direct orders), and customer service updates.

  • Work closely with National Accounts and the field (HG Specialists and Huttig OSRs) on direct business opportunities.

  • Monitor all direct order service issues between the field (customers) and vendors and follow through to resolution.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to customers that buy import direct through our Xpress Department.

  • Track import direct orders (requests come from field or directly from customer).

  • Generate reports for National Accounts, field management and strategic vendor partners.

  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.

  • Develop standard operating procedures for all aspects of the direct business.

  • Provides support and training for the branches.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree and three (3), or more, years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong communication skills and must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

  • Reasoning abilities and mathematical skills

SKILLS/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of customer service, B2B sales, building industry (including new construction and repair and remodel)

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, phone communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Microsoft Suite'Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint (Intermediate and Advanced).

  • Strong Excel skills, B2B sales within the building materials/fastener industry, and inside/phone sales.
