Job Responsibilities:

Account Director leads deep, consultative relationships with senior-level client and agency contacts; is a trusted advisor to clients and the broader project and account teams. Applies a deep understanding of the Company's and the client's industry, business, and products and translates client needs into opportunities to sell additional solutions and drive revenue growth within assigned client accounts.

Oversees client projects, ensuring deliverables are completed in an efficient manner- on time and on budget. May lead one or more large accounts and/or several small-to-large accounts within a location.

Client Experience:

  • Leads senior-level relationships with clients and key agency players. Establishes trusted advisor relationships in which clients and colleagues seek out advice and counsel.

  • Is a strategic partner to assigned clients by demonstrating a deep understanding of their market and business sectors and their specific challenges and opportunities. Provides thought leadership, insights, and perspectives that support client initiatives and align services and solutions with client needs.

  • Maintains existing business relationship with assigned clients by staying closely connected to internal project teams, monitoring progress of ongoing client projects, as needed, and helping to address and resolve promptly, accurately, effectively, and to the client's satisfaction, any issues or problems that may arise.

As Account Director, you will execute projects independently with the support and direction of the Account Lead, including but not limited to timeline development and management, financial reporting and management, client contact report development, client meeting agendas and action item report development, interaction and coordination with other departments (including creative, traffic, scientific services, editorial, digital, and meeting planning), on-site program management, materials development, concept planning, and coordination with external vendors. You will own all aspects of project management, including internal and client-facing kickoff meetings at the start of an initiative, through to completion and delivery. You will develop relationships with clients at appropriate levels under the direction of your supervisor and lead assigned projects independently. You will maintain a vocal role in leading internal and client-facing status calls. An Account Manager will also take a leadership role in project financials, including development and management of financial trackers and preparation and participation in regular finance meetings, supporting and overseeing project billing with appropriate support and supervision and proactively identifying and proposing solutions for financial issues on client projects. You will assist on the development of Statements of Work, including project scope assumptions and budget estimates. You will take a leadership role in developing and managing interdepartmental relationships; you will establish strong relationships, successfully execute projects with this interdepartmental group, manage conflict appropriately, and propose solutions to issues as they arise. EXPECTATIONS Strategic Business Stewardship * Genuine understanding of HCG companies and services; can effectively speak to these at a top-line level with client * Participates and contributes in select business planning sessions * Understands and can internally discuss client strategy and/or objectives * Assists in preparation of new business pitch/presentation, including research, scheduling, and other internal needs * Expert in Workforce project management tool Client Relations * Partners with clients independently and leads client meetings and calls with focus on project status and completion * With minimal supervision/revision, accurately completes client contact reports * Executes projects autonomously, has proven knowledge of internal process, capably and directly manages projects working with interdepartmental teams * Expert oversight of Zinc, Veeva, and any other content management databases (if applicable to account) Financial Management * Works closely with finance director for accurate picture and preservation of account financials * Correctly uses existing financial tools (eg, JPR, Financial Dashboard) to keep team abreast of key financial data trackers. Accurately uses Cognos, and keeps team forecast up to date * Develops client budgets, scope of work, and estimates with minimal revision needed People Management * May oversee the work of and provide direction to junior team members; delegates projects to provide experience and knowledge transfer * Takes the lead on interdepartmental relationship issues; identifies and solves problems, gives and receives constructive criticism in a positive way, immediately and helpfully addresses conflicts with peers Required Skills & Experience: * Expertise in MS Office (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint) * Strong interpersonal skills * Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills * Ability to work independently and within a team * Professional appearance and demeanor * Solutions oriented * Passion for excellence; extremely detail oriented * Comfortable leading client calls * Highly organized, ability to manage time and prioritize tasks * Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint; some database knowledge a plus * Willingness and ability to travel for programs if requested; 10% travel likely (pending accounts) * A bachelor's degree, preferably in business, marketing, communications, life sciences, or liberal arts * 4+ years' experience in account/project management in an agency setting; some pharmaceutical or health care‒focused client experience preferred, but not required The companies within the Healthcare Consultancy Group are Equal Opportunity Employers.
