This position has a multi-faceted array of duties. With all third party agencies, this position maintains systems of billing, accounting and reporting, The incumbent is also responsible for processing employee expense reports, directing student payroll, generates local checks, as well as provides payroll system processing for St. Cloud Technical and Community College; in conjunction with the SWIFT/SEMA4 and MinnState systems. This system maintains the daily record keeping for the local bank transactions and well as is responsible for completing various reconciliations as assigned. This position responds to employee questions in regard to payroll status and travel policy/procedures.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Process timesheets in accordance with online payroll procedures.
Audit, approve and process faculty and staff advances, settlements, reimbursements and business expenses.
Manage the third party receivables for outside agencies that have contracted payment for part or all of the individual student's charges for tuition, fees, books/supplies and miscellaneous charges.
Establish and monitor a system of financial recordkeeping for daily bank transactions including cash receipts, credit card payments, electronic fund transfers and payment process.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret and prepare financial information, records and reports, locate errors and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems
Knowledge of accounting systems sufficient to query and compile records and reports, and assist with inquires and provide support as needed
Working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets, word processing software and database inquiries
Mathematical skills sufficient to review and reconcile data and the steps need to balance accounts
Knowledge of English sufficient to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
Two year degree of higher in business related field
Two or more years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll or related position
Experience working in higher education
Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience working in diverse cultures and populations
In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCU's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
