Position description

This role represents Mayo Clinic as one of the first contact points a patient or visitor will complete upon arriving to campus and is a critical team member in facilitating patient visits. The Navigator provides excellent customer service while establishing and maintain a pleasant and helpful relationship for patients, visitors, and other Mayo Clinic personnel.

In addition to providing overall presence, the Navigator may greet patients and visitors and assist in navigation, verify patient appointments, communicate with colleagues within the practice to gather appointment details, understand and enforce the institutional visitor policy, following designated screening script and process flows, and enforce entrance utilization and related policies (ex: masking, badging). The Navigator primarily works at patient designated buildings to ensure policy enforcement and to monitor patient and visitor flow within the building. Job responsibilities also include communicating effectively with patients, visitors and Mayo Clinic colleagues and de-escalating conflict or stressful situations. This role may have view only access to the electronic medical record to support verifying information.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. One year of customer service experience required.

Requires effective communication, strong problem solving and conflict management skills. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress. Works varied hours which may include days, evenings, days/evenings, holidays and weekends with rotating days off.

Additional qualifications

Previous hospital or clinical experience is preferred. Previous customer facing roles preferred.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.24 per hour.

This position will support our nursing departments and may assist with patients in our inpatient settings, infusion clinic, immunization clinics, 1:1 care, and various other roles that will meet the needs of the patients. Nursing students preferred. We offer flexibility with scheduling. Floating regionally may be required. Position description The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. The nurse technician performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse(RN). The designated tasks are those which have been taught in the academic programs and/or orientation, and where the individual has demonstrated competence to a designated RN. The functions are those limited by law to unlicensed personnel. Qualifications Patient Care Assistant: 18 years old and completion of 12 college credits or High school Diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent. Nurse Tech: Successful completion of junior year of baccalaureate nursing program or successful completion of 3 semesters of associate nursing program. Successful experience in clinical areas as described in instructor references to perform the functions which are within this job description. Additional qualifications Certified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry in "non-expired" status (preferred). Patient care skills, knowledge of infection control and safety procedures, medical terminology, strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires independent judgment, a high level of motivation, accountability, flexibility, interest in patient care, and compassion for people. License or certification Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
