Purpose of Role

The Access Coordinator will focus on working with returning students with disabilities by managing accommodation letters, accessible material procurement, and other auxiliary aids and services. The Coordinator will assist with orientation for students in office procedures and assistive technologies, testing coordination and administration of tests. The Coordinator will assist in maintaining the Accessibility Services Blackboard Organization and resources page to provide support and resources to enhance overall academic performance and student success including creating and implementing synchronous and asynchronous workshops as needed. The Coordinator will also work collaboratively with other pertinent offices to engage students in specialized programs such as the Workforce Recruitment Program and Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society.

About This Opportunity

Joining our Student Success Center team, the Access Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist with coordination, administration and proctoring of tests while maintaining test integrity.

  • Meet with returning students with disabilities to assist in improving success skills and goal setting, as needed.

  • Procure accessible materials in alternate format and other auxiliary aids and services as needed.

  • Assist with the development of workshops synchronously and asynchronously, individually and in groups on topics such as: assistive technology, note taking, study skills, test taking strategies, organization, time management.

  • Assist Director in maintenance of Daemen University Accessibility Services Website and Blackboard Organization.

  • Maintain records, data and case notes to analyze, recognize and report trends from a retention perspective.

  • Coordinate programs and events in collaboration with other departments in regard to Workforce Recruitment Program and Delta Alpha Pi.

  • Assist the Director with office assessment and evaluation.

  • Assist with office responsibilities in Director's absence.

  • Other tasks as assigned by Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field, Master's degree preferred

  • Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

  • Experience in academically engaging with students in higher education or secondary education

  • Ability to multitask and adapt

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Total Compensation
