Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Maintains technologies that support the teaching and learning mission of the University.

  • Deploys technology hardware and/or software applications via in-person and virtual assistance for students, faculty, staff, and selected guests.

  • Supports and utilizes monitoring tools to troubleshoot incidents and enhance the availability of services.

  • Participates in the development and assessment of academic technologies and supports learning-based technologies in multiple formats.

  • Performs equipment refreshes and hardware installations; troubleshoots to identify issues and initiate fixes and resolutions.

  • Supports campus network access to support computers and mobile devices; coordinates with vendors and contractors to meet customer needs for out-sourced technology support.

  • Maintains any required auxiliary equipment pools to supplement and/or replace deployed equipment and technologies.

  • Performs testing, inspection, and monitoring to assure established expectations are met.

  • Conducts orientations and training sessions to build user skills; assists UTS and Emory staff to support back-to-school efforts and related events.

  • Researches new products to remain current with market trends and recent technology requirements, and provides product recommendations to ensure effective operability and customer satisfaction.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Works with students in a computer lab.

  • Assists with equipment installation in data centers, and works with tools and hardware.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Experience with IT, Instructional Technology, A/V Event Support Services, Video Technologies, or other related fields is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field or at least four years of experience working with technology in an academic environment.

  • Experience with JAMF and MacOS.

  • Experience with Linux and Windows.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.

We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.</p><p>Description</p><p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p><ul><li><p>Leads strategic division and school-wide efforts to identify and deploy technologies that support the teaching and learning mission of the University.</p></li><li><p>Administers enterprise-wide systems and applications to ensure operability of services and provide a highly available, secure, and robust academic technology infrastructure.</p></li><li><p>Designs support models; deploys equipment and infrastructure into supported rooms and facilities and/or deploys enterprise-wide software applications for use by the Emory University and Emory Healthcare communities.</p></li><li><p>Monitors application activity, equipment security, and system functions to ensure required availability and integrity; works with OIT Enterprise Systems to ensure 7x24 end-to-end monitoring and event management systems and alerts are in place and properly supported.</p></li><li><p>Consults with OIT Infrastructure teams to identify new and evolving systems, servers, storage, and database resources.</p></li><li><p>Ensures systems and applications comply with required mandates and best practices.</p></li><li><p>Provides customer support to troubleshoot advanced-level technical problems, ensure productivity, and to maintain system operability.</p></li><li><p>Educates customers on available central services to promote technology usage at Emory and to create best practice standards.</p></li><li><p>Reviews departments' proposals for new technologies, and makes subsequent recommendations to management based on technology and financial support requirements.</p></li><li><p>Partners with vendors and other campus experts to evaluate customer technology requirements and offer effective, innovative and supported solutions.</p></li><li><p>Participates in projects to evaluate, test, implement, upgrade, and/or purchase new systems, applications, or services.</p></li><li><p>Serves on professional organizations' work groups and committees to promote industry standards and collaboration with peers to influence future technologies.</p></li><li><p>Performs related responsibilities as required.</p></li></ul><p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p><ul><li>A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in systems and/or application administration OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.</li></ul><p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p><ul><li>Experience in instructional technology support in higher education.</li></ul><p>NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.
