Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

In accordance with the mission of the University, The College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks to enable students to understand and embrace the artistic expression of all cultures, empowering them to enrich the human experience for themselves and others. Provide our undergraduate students with comprehensive curricula appropriate to the various degree programs offered by the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

Present public performances, shows, and events, and provide artistic resources, education and outreach to the local, regional, national and international communities that enriches student learning, promotes faculty scholarship and creative activities, which enrich the lives of all citizens while showcasing the College and University.

Position Summary

In accordance with the mission of the University, the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks to enable students to understand and embrace artistic expression, empowering them to enrich the human experience for themselves and others. The ATS provides teaching and learning support to instructors (faculty, adjuncts, TAs, and GAs) - often, but not exclusively, involving IT support to instructional activity (i.e., provide direct support to instructors in applying technical solutions to achieve teaching and learning goals). Areas of support include, but are not limited to, helping to plan, develop, implement, assess, and enhance teaching and learning strategies and materials to ensure strong pedagogy. The ATS assists instructors representing diverse racial/ethnic groups and/or marginalized individuals and supports them in promoting the academic success of students from diverse racial/ethnic groups and/or marginalized groups.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum: • Master's degree • At least two years of related work experience working as a techincal professional supporting instructional technologies or other information technology applications/systems. • Experience with a Learning Management System. • Experience with on-line course design and delivery.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications

Preferred: • Master's degree preferred in education, instructional technology, or related field. • Terminal degree in related field • Teaching experience in a higher education setting • Current or previous Quality Matters certifications

Essential Tasks

  • Collaborate with campus and program leadership in the creation, advertising, and delivery of tutorials, training, projects, workshops, special events, and support documentation for implementation across the university.

  • Periodically review and update University resource websites and training courses.

  • Support instructors (regardless of academic home) when a significant need is presented that current ATS assignments cannot support fully. Committee Service

  • Represent the Unit at bi-weekly meetings of the ATSs, and representatives from Information Technology Services: Learning Technology (ITS: LT),

University Libraries (UL), and the University Teaching and Learning Commons (UTLC).

  • Represent the Unit at other University-level committees as assigned.

Professional Development:

  • Complete all aspects of the professional development for online instructors per Procedures for Professional Development

Essential Tasks

Instructional Technology Training and Support for Instructors

  • Provide support for the effective use of instructional technology and other related software and tools, including assistance with the development of learning goals, syllabi review, course redesign, instructional strategies, and content for web enhanced, blended, and fully online learning environments. This support may be implemented via:

o Workshops o Impromptu questions from faculty Face to face, email, virtual, and phone interactions with instructors (faculty, adjuncts, and TA/GAs)

o Consultations and Drop-in events

o On-demand Resources (web-based) Written materials Online guides

  • Train instructors and unit representatives to review online courses to ensure quality using QM and accessibility standards.

  • Serve as first contact support for instructors' virtual and classroom-based applications such as the LMS, video platforms, online testing monitoring software, and ITS-approved academic software, escalating as needed.

  • Maintain appropriate records and data to (a) produce regular performance and external reports and (b) evaluate the effectiveness of services and support provided. Communication with the Unit

  • Post regular communication to the unit o Including advertisement of unit-level workshops, services, and opportunities.

o Including Information on current instructional technology issues at UNCG.

  • As appropriate, present updates at unit-level administration meetings, addressing queries and needs.

  • As appropriate, serve on unit-level committees.

  • Consult with instructors regarding adoption of new instructional technology software. Professional Development

  • Remain current with new instructional technology software, hardware, and pedagogical practices appropriate to the Unit.

  • Remain current with curricular and pedagogical practices in Unit disciplines.

UNIT LEVEL - UNIT SPECIFIC DUTIES

Essential Tasks

  • Serve as the primary administrator for digital marketing displays in (all buildings across) the CVPA.

o Serve as digital content liaison between University Communications and the CVPA Marketing Director for digital display content.

o Manage and train school content managers on digital display software.

o Oversee digital display software licenses renewal, equipment maintenance, and purchasing

  • Serve as a Consultant for:

o Non-instructional purchases with the CVPA IT Team.

o Technology purchases with the Assistant Dean.

o Media conversion, live streaming, and other related technologies within CVPA.

o Senior Administrative Staff Council for academic and instructional technology needs across the CVPA

o Internal and cross-disciplinary communication and workflows

o Webmaster/marketing team to streamline and support services integration within schools and content managers within CVPA.

o Serve on the CVPA Communicators Team-meet monthly and consult as needed concerning digital marketing and website content development, management, and organization.

o Consult as needed with the School of Music streaming team, YouTube account maintenance, website integration, and encoding software integration.

o Maintain, create, and consult with all four Schools in CVPA for Qualtrics survey website integration throughout pages within the CVPA and School-specific websites.

  • Serve as the primary project contact for LOLA implementation within CVPA/SOM.

  • Maintain and serve as admin for CVPA listservs and internal directories with senior admin staff, including the master personnel directory.

  • Serve as admin for CVPA Canvas ORG, School groups within, and SharePoint master document repository during faculty/staff onboarding.

  • General ITC support for discipline-specific and specialized technology including but not limited to software, hardware, and related instructional and classroom technology.
