Duties and Responsibilities
*Provide program support for a culturally-responsive STEM long-distance educational program based in American Samoa. Assist the Principal Investigator and Program Director(s) in program management and coordination.
*Orient, train, supervise, direct, and evaluate subordinate graduate assistants and undergraduate student assistants to assure accountability & stewardship of resources in compliance with departmental/project goals & objectives.
*Conduct program analyses, evaluations, and studies of long-range goals and objectives, measure of effectiveness, and program size indicators. Participate in the formulation of program operational plans, including writing of internal program controls.
*Serve as a liaison between program and other UH units including COE HR, Outreach College, Admissions, Student Health Services, RCUH, etc; as well as with external partners located in American Samoa.
*Provide support in all areas pertaining to fiscal, personnel and travel.
*Assist in all aspects of candidate development including the admissions process and through to commencement.
*Assess community and participants' needs, and develop and implement a plan for community-based center activities.
Create literature summaries, tables and graphics for reports, presentations and publications.
Draft annual reports for ASDOE, Title II, and others.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business, education or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities in program management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of managing an educational program as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with program management.
Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience supporting candidates in the South Pacific, including American Samoa.
Familiarity in technology such as storage management, basic database, Microsoft Office or similar, video teleconferencing platforms, websites, PDFs, and various tools.
Experience with grant writing, manuscript, and/or proposal preparation.
Familiarity with Federal, State of Hawaii, and UH policies and procedures including but not limited to fiscal compliance and grant management.
