Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Dean of the Gabelli School of Business, the Academic Support Manager is directly responsible for the operational functions of the Gabelli School of Business and is responsible for projects and procedures directly related to student relations, academic processes, communication, marketing and technical support.

Student Relations and Academic Process Support

  • Work with students to identify needed support including assistance with academic policies including transfer credit requests, major changes, and assistance with registration and completing required academic documents.

  • Be knowledgeable of the School's majors, minors, curriculum requirements, course availability, registration processes and University academic policies and requirements.

  • Refer students to campus resources such as Center for Career & Professional Development, the Center for Student Academic Success, and other relevant departments.

  • Assist students, parents, visitors, faculty, and staff with information related to the Gabelli School of Business.

  • Work with faculty and Deans' Office staff with ongoing work and special projects involving student workers.

  • Develop collaborative relationships with faculty, academic and student support staff, Deans, the Registrar's Office, Bursar's Office, Enrollment Management, the Center for Student Academic Success and other campus offices affecting student relations.

Marketing and Event Management

  • Develop, oversee, and plan school events including ensuring that the marketing, event materials, and logistics, are completed and successfully executed, working with the Dean and Gabelli School office staff. Attend events as a representative of the School.

  • Serve as the primary contact at University hosted and sponsored events.

  • Create and make presentations to students.

  • Manage meeting oversight for the Gabelli School of Business Advisory Board and other committee meetings, working with the School's administrative staff on meeting logistics. Arrange for minutes to be taken.

  • Arrange and attend in and out of state conferences or meetings as requested.

Communication Management

  • Work with the Deans, faculty and students to maintain a variety of communication channels that are relevant to specific programs within the school including social media, the School's website, emails and the University Catalog.

  • Prepare communication materials for publicizing and educating potential and current students, parents, external partners, staff and faculty, working with Marketing and Communications.

  • Assist the Dean in creating and maintaining student centered customer service model.

Budget Management/System Operations

  • Analyze budget reports, research variances and propose solutions to budget issues.

  • Meet with the Dean to assist with budget planning that supports the School's and University's goals.

  • Serve as liaison to the Office of Sponsored Programs for monitoring grant preparation, grant budget and reporting process.

  • Research, recommend and implement a broad array of administrative and technical services for projects and programs, including determining and recommending opportunities for process improvement.

  • Provide technical support for accreditation system.

  • Ensure delivery of accurate, efficient and cohesive non-routine and routine projects and procedures.

  • Competently and respectfully adheres to the School's and University policies and operating practices while often acting independently and without precise instruction in matters of logistical operations and office practice.

  • Attend all relevant faculty and staff meetings in GSB.

Additional Functions

  • Be a strategic partner in the GSB Dean's office and support any additional and ongoing projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with extensive, relative experience.

  • Minimum of three years of experience preferably in an educational environment.

  • Be professional and courteous in performing duties, with a high degree of customer service.

  • Ability to function independently and maintain an elevated level of productivity without close supervision or direction.

  • Positive attitude, strong, team and people skills to work with faculty, students and staff in the School and the University.

  • Knowledge of social media marketing and software skills to develop postings, email campaigns, newsletters, short videos and other media content.

  • Knowledge of the information sources, methods, and techniques used in business, education and research.

  • Knowledge of higher education catalog and basic advising/coaching skills. Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative officials, other employees, and the general public.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for analysis. Familiarity with building tables within database software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.

  • Working experience in higher education.

  • Possess a working knowledge of higher education accreditation processes.

Salaries for new hires at Roger Williams University usually fall within the minimum and midpoint salary ranges.

$48,296-$60,000
