Position Overview

The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire an Academic Support Coordinator for Weston High School. The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of The Enrichment Center (TEC), where teachers, learning assistants, and national honors Society students work with students who require additional academic support. The Coordinator collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to identify students in need of academic assistance, math them with appropriate support, and help monitor progress. Additionally, the coordinator may provide direct instruction and facilitate study groups to enhance students' learning experiences. This is a full-time role, 185 days over a full school year, reporting to the High School Principal. About the Weston Public Schools

The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 167 students (K-12).

Key Responsibilities

Manage the TEC Operations

  • Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion

  • Coordinate the scheduling and staffing of the TEC

  • Manage student requests for academic support during their study blocks

  • Implement data-driven student success plans that involve academic support

  • Collaborate with teachers monitoring study halls to provide academic support for students

  • Work with the librarian to maintain a welcoming environment within the library and the academic support center rooms surrounding it

  • Ensure the necessary resources, including textbooks, technology, and educational materials, are available for student use

Oversee the Implementation of Targeted Tier 2 Intervention Strategies

  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to identify students at risk of falling behind academically

  • Oversee the implementation of individualized intervention strategies

  • Monitor students' progress and adjust intervention plans as needed

  • Communicate student progress to other educators

Facilitate Group Learning Activities

  • Organize and facilitate study groups to support student learning

  • Create opportunities for peer collaboration and cooperative learning among students with similar academic needs

  • Incorporate technology resources to enhance the effectiveness of group learning activities

Maintain Records and Data Analysis

  • Participate in High School Instructional Support Teams and Data Teams to identify students needing support and to monitor student progress

  • Keep detailed records of student attendance, progress, and academic interventions

  • Generate reports and communicate findings to school leadership, teachers, and parents/guardians, as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education or a related field

  • Licensed as Teacher in MA

  • Previous experience working with high school students and a strong understanding of adolescent development, learning styles, and academic challenges

  • Experience using data to drive instructional decisions and improve student outcomes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for the Academic Support Coordinator position is $70,000 - $*0,000 per year. Additionally, the Weston Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including employer-sponsored health insurance, paid time off, and participation in the Middlesex County Retirement System.
