Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

Consult and coordinate support of students who are failing or at risk of failing scheduled courses.
Develops positive working relationships with students and families to advocate and support their educational achievements.
Support parent and teacher communication and enable students to advocate and communicate for themselves.
Provide academic updates for parents and students.
Encourage and support organizational skills.
Identify and support educational goals.
Provide academic consult and support after school.
Work towards developing student skills to reach independent success.

This position is not a teaching position.
This position will be compensated (at least 50%) using 31a state funds intended to support students who qualify as at-risk.
This position would start one hour after the start of the high school bell schedule and extend one hour after the end of the high school bell schedule.

Qualifications

Experience in education or a related field is preferred.
A College degree in education or a related field is preferred.
Meet ESSA highly qualified requirement of at least 60 college credit hours or be willing to take and receive a passing score on the ETS assessment before accepting employment.

VIEW JOBS Summary: The successful candidate will primarily work with at-risk students focusing on behavior, but will also assist the teacher in the delivery of instruction. Paraeducators work under the direct supervision of the teacher and provide support in the following manner: * Work with student and/or groups of students on academic skills. * Read aloud or listen to students read. * Operate audiovisual equipment, copiers, laminators, overheads, bookbinders, Ellison machine and computer in support of the teacher, class, or individual student. * Facilitate centers and other learning activities. * Communicate with teacher coordinating efforts needed. * Reinforce school and classroom rules. * Assist in publishing student work. * Assist students with instruction, assignments, testing and assessments individually and in small groups, i.e. running records, as direct by teacher. * Assist with routine classroom activities, testing and assessments. * Assist students with clothing changes in the event of illnesses or accidents. * This list is not to be considered inclusive of all duties performed by individuals in this position, but rather some examples of the types of duties most often performed. Skills and Qualifications: Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and school community. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must demonstrate a willingness to accept new paraeducator pertinent job responsibilities when they are assigned. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. REQUIRED Education/Experience: * Minimum education of high school diploma or GED. * It is required that the candidate has completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester hours); or obtained an associate's degree (or higher); or a passing score of 460 on the ETS Parapro Assessment or a passing score on the MTTC-Professional Readiness Exam or Basic Skills Test. * Demonstrated experience working with At-Risk and/or special education students. This position is 7.0 hours per day with a 30 minute duty free lunch (6.5 hours pay/day) at $12.17/hour and has paid time off benefits (personal leave and sick leave benefits). Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. The employee is frequently exposed to infection at a greater risk than the average person due to the close contact with children. VIEW JOBS SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Instructional Support Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The role of the coach is to build teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices as related to UCCS, Common Core and Data Driven Instruction. An instructional support coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. The Instructional Support Coach will work collaboratively with the principals to help provide support in curriculum and instruction with a focus on providing support in our technology supports and virtual learning. The Instructional Support Coach will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration and common issues of concern. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ROLES: * Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis. * Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) curriculum and varied assessments, the Framework for Teaching, and data analysis. * Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches. * Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices. * Create an articulated schedule with building administration. * Assist teachers in understanding UCCS mission and core values. * Provide technical support for Schoology. * Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources. * Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels. * Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students. * Support teachers by helping with the ?strategic how of teaching -- share multiple instructional strategies/processes with teachers during planning times. * Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success. * Develop staff members' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs. * Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement. * Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice. * Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools. * Provide job-embedded informal professional learning beyond the coaching responsibility. * Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation. * Attend summer training sessions. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: * Certified in any specific teaching area * Minimum 3 years' experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs. * Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners. * Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback. * Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions. * Demonstrated Teacher Leadership. * Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise. * Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication. * Strong interpersonal skills. * Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve. * Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities.
