The Center for Academic Success and Transition (CAST) is seeking a passionate and student-centered professional for the role of Academic Success Coach. This position is designed for someone dedicated to enhancing the academic success, engagement, and well-being of all UNL students primarily through one-to-one success coaching (in-person & Zoom). Coaches will work with students on time management, course preparation, study habits, and school-life balance, helping them to navigate the challenges and opportunities of campus life and succeed academically. In addition to coaching, the role includes proactive outreach and follow-up with students, case management for specific student cohorts (e.g., First Husker and CAST POWER students, first-year program participants, and others), and the development and delivery of presentations on academic skills, study strategies, and student engagement. The coach will also teach at least two first-year seminar courses in the fall semester, guiding students in building community, academic identity, and success strategies.
The Academic Success Coach will collaborate with the Director to implement academic support programs that engage and support students in taking ownership of their learning while fostering a sense of purpose in their educational journey. The role emphasizes building strong relationships with students and offering personalized, identity and strengths-based guidance to ensure academic success and personal well-being, especially for historically underserved populations, including first-generation, low-income, and ethnic/racial minoritized students, as well as those on academic warning and transfer students.
