The STAR (Supportive Therapeutic Academic Resource) Program is designed to address the therapeutic and academic needs to students returning to school following absences due to mental health or medical illness. We are seeking an Academic Services Professional to coordinate the academic services for students in the program and to support their successful return to the classroom. Position reports to the STAR Center Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
Collaboration with classroom teachers to determine the essential assignments/assessments to be completed.
Determination of the amount and type of academic tutoring necessary to meet each students' needs and collaboration with program assistants/tutors
Maintenance of individual student records tracking academic progress.
Guidance in managing students' overall academic program, including staggered re-entry to school/classes.
Direct provision of academic assistance to students in the STAR program classroom
Collaboration with high school counselors, school psychologists, school adjustment counselors, nursing and administration.
Qualifications:
Certified Secondary Teacher, Counselor, or Special Educator with experience and interest working with vulnerable students is preferred.
