Union University seeks a qualified individual for the part-time position of Academic Secretary. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Departments of English and Languages. This is an on-going part-time position, working 20 hours per week during the 10-month period from August 1 until May 31.

Greet and ensure positive interactions with students, visitors, faculty, and staff. Handle phone calls and redirect as necessary.
Provide clerical support for the Department Chair and, secondarily, for other faculty and staff. This includes making copies, writing correspondences, collecting course syllabi, compiling information for end-of-the-year statistics and annual reports, coordinating student ensemble travel, and communicating with students, faculty, members of the department, and other employees and departments within the University.
Assist in the coordination of and preparation for departmental events.
Create and distribute forms needed for student and faculty evaluations and compile results for appropriate distribution.
Other duties as assigned by Department Chair(s).
Graduation from high school or the equivalent is required. An associate degree or higher and previous secretarial experience is preferred.
This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, practical knowledge of computers and competency in the use of MS Word and Excel, and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with faculty, students, staff, and visitors. Also required is the ability to follow directions with minimum guidelines and supervision.
