The College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for an Academic Records Coordinator position. The Coordinator will work with the College administrative staff and deans to provide accurate and timely information to over 10,000 undergraduate students within Arts and Sciences.
The Coordinator serves students, employees, faculty, alumni, parents, and community members with various academic requirement-related needs, and will work with multiple areas within the Undergraduate College. This is a unique position that has the opportunity to positively impact the broad scope of students and services offered by the College of Arts and Sciences, such as: tracking students pursuing all degrees in the College of Arts and Sciences; adding required information to the student information system; performing accurate entry into databases; participating in regular communication with other schools and offices within UVa; and administrative support for Association Dean(s). This position reports directly to the College Business Administrator with strong ties to the College Registrar and the College Academic Programs Manager.
A high school diploma and at least two years of administrative, student, or customer service experience is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred and may substitute for experience.
Related experience in a higher ed academic office is also preferred. The ability to work effectively with students, alumni, faculty, employers and staff is required.
The ability to learn an array of information relative to A&S Area Requirements, services and resources is required, while general knowledge of A&S academic requirements is preferred.
In addition, the ability to evaluate/assess customer needs, apply information, and provide advice or make appropriate referrals is required. A demonstrated attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication in daily interactions is essential. The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines is also required.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to organize and prioritize assignments as well as possess effective, professional interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently or as part of a team is critical, as is knowledge of general record-keeping practices. The candidate must also possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (with a focus on Excel and/or Access) and Database applications. MS Office applications, SIS and SIS discover are preferred.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000.
