The McIntire School of Commerce is consistently ranked as one of the best undergraduate business programs in the country. The School is an upper-division program at the University, meaning that all students complete two years of undergraduate coursework prior to enrolling. Recognizing each student's unique academic and career goals, backgrounds, and talents, the McIntire Office of Undergraduate Admission strives to support and guide students toward these goals.

The McIntire School of Commerce is seeking a new Academic Program Support Specialist to provide administrative and academic support services for all McIntire Academic programs ( UG, Graduate, and Non-Degree) and individual faculty. These tasks may include but are not limited to the following:academic preparation documents (name tents,student info cards,seating charts,photo rosters,name recordings,etc.), ordering academic resources or class materials, planning logistics for events or other sessions that take place outside of normal class periods, grade distribution, uploading class information to CMS systems, assisting with exam preparation/distribution, and scheduling meetings between faculty and other constituents. The Academic Program Support Specialist performs and coordinates the editing and formatting of academic research and faculty correspondence such as papers, cases, tests, letters of recommendation, research papers, and tenure/ renewal material to ensure the highest quality communication is being delivered by the school. They assist faculty, program managers and other Student Services colleagues in planning and execution of events and programs that support the mission of the school. The Academic Program Support Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for all internal and external vendors who provide service in support of academic programs and faculty/staff at the McIntire School of Commerce.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience

  • Proficiency with technology particularly Microsoft Office

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate Degree or Higher

  • Prior work experience in university student services, higher education administration, business schools and/or corporate relations

  • Proficiency with Blackboard, Collab, Sign-Up Genius, Qualtrics, and/or Doodle is a plus

VIEW JOBS 3/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-16T00:00 The University of Virginia's Office of Health Promotion (OHP) is seeking a dynamic Recovery Support Specialist to effectively build and grow a diverse, positive, and inclusive Recovery-Ready community. A Recovery-Ready Grounds is a place where individuals are empowered to ask for help, intervene with empathy when they notice someone struggling with alcohol or other drug use, and respect recovery by offering encouragement and celebrating success. Reporting to the Associate Director of OHP, this position will promote wellbeing through development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the University's recovery support initiatives. These initiatives are designed to engage and empower people in recovery or considering recovery, as well as recovery allies. While students are the primary focus of the endeavors of this position, supporting the wellbeing and health of students necessitates considering and supporting the welfare of faculty, staff, and alumni. The Specialist will focus on nurturing a Recovery-Ready Grounds through the role of educator, facilitator, and mentor, and connect individuals to appropriate on- and off-Grounds clinical providers. This is a full-time, 12-month University Staff position with all state benefits. Specific responsibilities include: Recovery Support and Advocacy Initiatives (60%) * Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the University's recovery support initiatives, including but not limited to oversight of the Hoos in Recovery program, the recovery ally program, and recovery housing options * Provide direct support to students in recovery or considering recovery through the role of educator, group facilitator, and mentor * Serve as a community resource for addiction and recovery topics and provide referrals to both on- and off-Grounds resources * Use knowledge gained from assessment to adjust approaches and initiatives * Work directly with marketing personnel to assist in creation and dissemination of marketing and other publication materials to promote, strengthen, and grow recovery support initiatives * Ensure that all initiatives and programming are positive, developmentally appropriate, empowering, and inclusive to a diverse community. Supervision/Administration (20%) * Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate paid and volunteer student staff and interns * Develop methodology to track student progress/care management * Manage all recovery support finances including operating budgets, grants, and donations; grow and distribute scholarship funds to support recovery efforts * Respond to recovery support inquiries from students, family members, potential donors, media, and other Grounds or community members. Collaboration (20%) * Develop partnerships with campus partners and local recovery and treatment resources to ensure support services for UVA members, including 12-step and other recovery meetings * Maintain relationships between the recovery support program at UVA and the greater Charlottesville community, along with state and national communities * Serve as a member of the Student Health Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Consultation Team. Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a closely related field of study. Also required: * A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience * Cultural competence related to recovery language, communities, and resources * Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion or recovery support initiatives * Basic knowledge of best practices in collegiate health promotion and public health * Ability to relate effectively to and engage graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, administration, and community agencies * Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills * Ability to be flexible, work independently, and be proactive with pursuing and strengthening partnerships * Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends * Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice and creating inclusive environments * Ability to supervise and train several student personnel * Ability to ethically maintain standards of professional care and confidentiality * Ability to participate in continuing professional development activities to maintain competency.
