  • Worldwide announces an exciting opportunity in the Department of Online Education. The Instructional Technologist is responsible for digital media asset development in support of online course production. This position will use ERAU course developer content to produce state-of-the-art digital media, audio, and visual material, in support of graduate, undergraduate and MOOC courses offered through the Online Education department. Examples include: graphics, infographics, interactive presentations, animated videos, simulations, gamification, and reusable web-based interactive HTML5 content.

This position provides professional coaching and guidance to course developers and instructional designers to ensure quality of product by incorporating educational technologies that enhance learning. Additionally, this position will also coordinate production schedules and scope with the Executive Director and course production staff to insure timely delivery of course material.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Communications, Broadcasting, Video Production, Digital Media, Graphic Arts or related field)
  • (3-5) years of work related experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated skills in digital media production and at least 5 years of relevant experience in this area.

  • Ability to work in an environment with many simultaneous requests for service and to prioritize tasks and to communicate those priorities with tact to end users.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with technology-based courseware design and development techniques.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills are required including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Expertise with software applications including the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite of software, Microsoft Office, and other digital media production tools such as Camtasia, Articulate, Visme, H5P, etc.

  • Ability to provide a comfortable and flexible production environment with professional guidance and coaching.

  • Problem-solving skills that include identification, analysis, and proactive solutions in support of University goals.

  • Demonstrated technology skills and ability

  • LMS management, digital audio and video production, web programming, CSS, graphic design, motion graphics, web layout, and cloud storage management.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in instructional technology or a related field (e.g., education, instructional design, technology in education)

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing highly engaging learning programs based on sound learning principles.

  • Experience working with Canvas Learning Management System.

  • Experience working with academic technologies in the higher educational field.

In addition to providing individualized instruction, Fellows mentor students to support social and emotional growth. The mission of the Great Oaks Foundation is to launch and support a network of charter schools that prepare students for college success through a rigorous tutorial program. The Great Oaks Foundation has replicated the Great Oaks Fellowship model in Newark, NJ, New York, NY, Bridgeport, CT, Wilmington, DE and Baltimore, MD. A select group of Great Oaks Fellows are enrolled in the Teaching Residency program. We are seeking team-oriented, student-centered, service-minded individuals who share the belief that all students deserve a high-quality education. Position Summary Great Oaks Fellows are integral members of the Great Oaks community. Over the course of one school year (August through June), Great Oaks Fellows collaborate with diverse stakeholders to instruct and mentor students, and help develop a community where those students thrive. As a member of the Great Oaks Fellowship, Fellows are directly responsible for providing individualized instruction, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities to several small groups of middle or high school students each day in a full-time AmeriCorps service position. Fellows serve Monday-Friday and some weekends- an average day lasting 9-10 hours. To ensure that Fellows meet the necessary living expenses incurred while participating in the Great Oaks Fellowship program, members are provided a modest living stipend, housing (utilities and furniture included) and access to food and health benefits. Members also receive ongoing professional development throughout the year. Fellows will be eligible for an AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon successful completion of the service term in good standing with the service site (completing 1,700 hours of service for Full-time members and the school year in its entirety). Most importantly, Great Oaks Fellows gain valuable professional and personal experience and acquire skills in civic-engagement, teamwork and leadership during a year of service. The ideal candidate for the Great Oaks Fellowship is a recent college graduate who is passionate about service and working with youth. Great Oaks Fellows serve in Newark, NJ, New York, NY, Bridgeport, CT, Wilmington, DE and Baltimore, MD. Responsibilities Instruct for Mastery - Fellows deliver individualized small-group instruction to students in the context of a supportive relationship, resulting in a significant increase in math and ELA achievement. * Provide daily tutoring to students in math and/or English Language Arts for an average of four (45 minute) periods a day * Utilize at least one prep period each day to organize, adapt, and/or plan instructional materials * Provide additional academic supports during after-school programming and/or Saturday Academy (dependent on campus placement) * Collaborate with teachers to support individualized and student-driven academic goal setting * Actively participate in student and/or content-focused meetings with Fellow leadership, school leadership, and teachers * Regularly assess student progress to inform personalized instruction * Provide in-class or curriculum support (dependent on secondary role) Mentor for Leadership - Fellows provide fundamental support to students' social emotional growth.
