The Academic Instructor provides instruction in basic education subjects such as mathematics, science, social studies, reading, writing and language arts, to help inmates/students learn skills that will contribute to their development as mature, responsible citizens. The Academic Instructor maintains a positive learning environment, adopting secure classroom management practices, and develops level appropriate lesson plans.

  • Prepare course objectives following curriculum standards and applicable requirements by contract

  • Plan a program of study, lesson plans, assignments, and tests under general supervision.

  • Provides instruction using course outline, handouts and texts, audiovisual aids and other materials.

  • Administer tests to evaluate students' progress and competency with subject matter.

  • Assist students with individualized instruction as needed.


  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree is required.

  • A teaching license is preferred.

  • Must possess or be eligible for certification, license or other credentials required by contract and/or state of employment.

  • Continued employment in this position will be contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining required agency credentials.

  • Three years of classroom instruction experience is preferred.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications is required.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 20 years of age.

HHS has 1,180 licensed beds and an expansive network of clinics.</p><p>Responsibilities</p><p>What You'll Do</p><p>The Security Officer plays a critical role in protecting life and property of all persons on Hillcrest Medical Center premises and patrols hospital buildings and ground to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Secures, unlocks, and protects hospital buildings. Responds to security needs of hospital personnel, patients, and visitors. This position is safety sensitive.</p><p>The successful candidate will be able to:</p><ul><li><p>Patrol hospital grounds in order to provide sufficient protection to employees, patients, and visitors as well as institutional property</p></li><li><p>Direct and controls vehicular traffic to ensure means of access to and exit from the institution</p></li><li><p>Act as the first responder to requests for assistance in security related matters and facilities initiation of emergency and disaster procedures in a timely and efficient manner</p></li><li><p>Interact with law enforcement, patients, visitors and staff to investigate security and related incidents in order to ensure the most appropriate follow-up action taken</p></li><li><p>Properly document daily activities and incident reports in a timely and accurate manner</p></li><li><p>Maintain composure during high stress, emergency, or uncommon conditions in order to achieve the security mission of protecting the safety of those on hospital grounds</p></li><li><p>Sustain working relationships and cooperation with other security personnel and outside law enforcement in order to maximize and enhance the Security Program at Hillcrest Medical Center</p></li><li><p>Escort personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings as requested</p></li></ul><p>Qualifications</p><p>What You'll Bring</p><ul><li><p>High school diploma or equivalent</p></li><li><p>Valid driver's license with good driving record</p></li><li><p>Valid ARMED Guard CLEET License</p></li><li><p>Maintains current BLS and obtains certification within 30 days of hire</p></li><li><p>Annual CLEET requalification handgun &amp; shotgun required by a CLEET certified instructor</p></li><li><p>Maintains OC/Pepper Spray certification</p></li><li><p>Upholds Crisis Intervention Training from SAMA - SATORI and obtains certification within 30 days of hire</p></li><li><p>Must be able to maintain a safe environment by being physically able to; kneel while attending mandatory training classes (CPI, Gun Range and CPR) or chase suspects by foot (as needed), take control of combative suspects (as necessary), place suspects in custody if the need arises until local authorities are notified and respond to make the arrest.</p></li><li><p>Skill in oral communications, especially listening and recalling information during high stress conditions</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of verbal and non-verbal tactics to safely de-escalate emotional individuals</p></li><li><p>Ability to use non-violent crisis intervention techniques, trained defense tactics, restraint tactics, and a working knowledge sufficient to assist outside law enforcement or fire personnel as needed</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of and skill with computer systems, including spreadsheets, word processing, email, computer-aided dispatch, alarm systems, access control databases, and surveillance cameras</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of radio equipment for communications</p></li></ul><p>What We Offer</p><ul><li><p>Competitive pay</p></li><li><p>Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance</p></li><li><p>401k with Company match</p></li><li><p>Company paid basic life insurance and long-term disability coverage</p></li><li><p>Generous paid time off (PTO), including additional extended illness bank</p></li><li><p>Tuition Reimbursement</p></li><li><p>Advancement and career development opportunities</p></li></ul> Ardent Health Services Cushing OK
