Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Academic Enhancement Coordinator (AEC) will serve as administrative support and program coordinator to administer the daily and ongoing operations of the program.
Position is .75 FTE (30 Hours / Week)
The Academic Enhancement Coordinator (AEC) will serve as administrative support and program coordinator for the daily and ongoing operations of the MARC U-STAR program at UNCG. The MARC programs is a comprehensive undergraduate training program that directly contributes to increasing the diversity of students pursuing graduate studies in biomedical careers. The AEC will work closely with Dr. Phillips in running most day to day activities of the program, such as processing applications, coordinating the sophomore pre-MARC Focused Learning Groups, scheduling meetings, arranging for student payments, meeting logistics for internal and external attendees, coordinating on-campus and external summer research experiences for students, and coordinating community engagement experiences and other basic logistics associated with the overall program. The Coordinator will monitor student progress towards academic and research goals. The AEC will monitor the grant budget, provide oversight of submission and tracking of purchases, maintain inventory, and maintain program website, social media sites, and a small database of alumni. In addition, the Coordinator will assist in generating grant progress reports, maintaining effective relationships with external and internal contacts, and will work with the program evaluator(s) to ensure that students and mentors are in compliance with evaluation procedures. The Academic Enhancement Coordinator will facilitate the co-curricular workshops and activities, working through and with the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creativity Office (URSCO) and in partnership with other UNCG offices including, but not limited to, Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement (OLCE), and the Office of Sponsored Programs, which have specific expertise in the specific co-curricular topics. The AEC will work within the URSCO and will contribute to development and implementation of student programs therein. Some of these are occasional tasks, and other duties may be assigned by the PIs.
Four year college degree (Management, education, science or a science-related field). and at least one year of supervisory experience. Candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and technology skills
