Under general guidance of a senior member of the College Center for Advising Services (CCAS) staff, and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the ideal candidate will provide academic advising and technical support to the Center for Advising Services. The individual in this position will advise undergraduate students in academic program planning; provide and obtain factual information with respect to registration in courses; assist students having academic difficulties; make appropriate referrals; and perform graduation audits. In addition, this candidate will serve as the Center's point of contact for the management of our Filemaker Pro databases, our website and other technology needs as identified.
Advises undergraduate students in academic program planning, using knowledge of academic programs, courses, pre-requisites, degree requirements, rules and regulations and students' educational goals. Refers students to faculty or other offices for specialized help.
Advises students about special academic opportunities. Provides support to students having academic difficulties, including advising responsibility for a caseload of academic probation students each semester. May serve as the administrator for the College Prizes program or other specialized advising initiative.
Serve as a technology specialist within Advising Services. Assist the Center in identifying and implementing potential new technologies in academic advising.
Update the Center's website. Manage all Filemaker Pro databases in the office using knowledge of internal policies and procedures. Assign database access privileges as appropriate.
Troubleshoot errors as presented by users and serve as the designated point of support in the office for Filemaker Pro databases. Write scripts and automate functions to improve and update existing databases. Keep abreast of trends as they relate to data management by attending job-related seminars, courses and conferences.

Strong problem-solving skills, a desire to coach and advocate for students and a passion for assisting students as they formulate their educational and personal goals
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and coordinate with colleagues at multiple organizational levels.
Demonstrated passion for technological innovations and interest in participating in training opportunities.
2+ years of Filemaker Pro experience as well as experience updating website content.
Bachelor's Degree required, but Master's degree is preferred with a minimum of two years related experience working with college students.
