Academic and Behavior Counselor Job Description
1.Provides personal and social counseling to students.
2.Create and implement an advisory curriculum that touches on the social-emotional aspect of students' negative experiences in a school environment as well as coping mechanisms for daily situations like anxiety, depression and illness.
3.Consults with students, parents and school personnel concerning special abilities or problems of students.
4.Orients students and parents to the school program and various guidance services available.
5.Assists administration with monitoring discipline and attendance problems from continuing.
6.Assists administration with fundraising, school activities and culmination ceremony
7.Assists with Student Study Teams, referrals for individual testing, and special education program.
8.Assists with administration of group tests and interprets group test data to students, parents, and teachers, including achievement and aptitude tests and interest surveys. Counsels with parents concerning student data and school progress.
9.Assesses student programs, keeping the students informed of their status toward meeting promotion requirements, and makes recommendations for improvement and counseling as needed.
Assists students in defining long-term and short-term educational goals.
Assists with campus control and supervision.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by immediate Supervisor within the limits of the contract.
