Position Information

Position Title Academic Advisor- Restricted to Current Employees Department Guidance/Counseling Campus Central Campus Location Central Campus FLSA Non-Exempt Full Time/Part Time Full Time Summary of Position

Responsible for providing educational guidance and assistance to students by assessing their needs, goals, interests, and prior academic experiences in order to guide them in a program of study and potential career path. Advises students regarding information, procedures, and requirements of a specific program of study. Responsible for understanding and interpreting the College's policies and degree and certificate programs to help facilitate the student's academic and career success. Participates in recruitment and outreach activities. Provides support in the area to which the position is assigned.

Minimum Required Education

Bachelor's degree from a nationally, regionally, or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education.

Minimum Required Experience

Two years full-time wage earning professional experience in academic advising/counseling, financial aid/VA educational benefits, or student accounts or relevant experience in the education field preferably at the college level.

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to persons of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and those with disabilities.

  • Ability to relate effectively with a wide range of constituents including students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, data analysis and reporting, and a student information system.

  • Able to manage stress well and be flexible in a changing, fast-paced environment. Be student-focused and exhibit a helpful and caring attitude.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision.

Salary 1J/Per Salaried Pay Scale Hours Full-time, indicate working hours

  • Thur 7:30am

  • 5:30pm Fri 7:30-11:30am

Other Information

Non CTC Standard Hours may be worked based on demands and to support Evening/Weekend College. Standard CTC (Monday-Thursday, 7:30-5:30, Friday 7:30-11:30) hours apply unless otherwise notated by supervisor.

Must have a clear motor vehicle report (MVR) in support of travel directly related to conducting CTC business.
