Academic Advisor III

ACADEMIC ADVISOR III

The Academic Advisor III works with large and eclectic student populations while guiding them in choices to successfully graduate from UAB, adhering to UAB policy and requirements. Advisors may participate in some or all orientations, scholarship events, and UAB Days.

Participation and attendance are required for CAS Academic Advisor (AA III), which will include some nights and weekends. Additionally, AA III will be required to teach First Year Experience courses as determined by the Director of Academic Advising. This position will communicate effectively with vast and eclectic student populations while successfully guiding them in choosing to graduate from UAB, adhering to UAB policy and requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a closely related field and excellent written and verbal presentation skills. The candidate must be able to encourage people, problem-solve, possess interpersonal skills, and have three years of combined academic and counseling experience. The candidate must be able to work alone or with a team.

Salary Range: $45,395 - $73,770

Master's degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
