The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an ACADEMIC ADVISOR II to apply the core values and theories relevant to academic advising and to adapt academic advising approaches to meet the needs of a diverse student population. To implement projects to achieve specific academic advising outcomes.
To implement the core values of the institution. To initiate career conversations with students. To apply legal guidelines of advising practices, including privacy regulations and confidentiality.
To provide a holistic approach to advising that connects to and supports the unit vision and mission while using multiple support resources. To implement equitable and inclusive strategies within academic advising practices. To engage in ongoing individual assessment and development of self and the advising practice.
To lead group presentations and further develop communication skills and understanding of policies and procedures. To provide service to UAB and department/unit communities.
(Annual Salary: $41,175 - $47,557)
Master's degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
