Job DescriptionGot a knack for keeping cars and trucks on the road? Then join the Army National Guard as a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic and help keep freedom moving forward.

As a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to supervise and perform unit maintenance and recovery operations on gasoline - and diesel - fueled light-wheeled vehicles. In short, if it's on wheels, you'll work on it. And after your paid training, you'll be qualified to maintain and repair any number of vehicle systems and components, preparing you to step right into a civilian vehicle maintenance career.

Job training requires 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

Requires military enlistment. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Benefits subject to change.

Most non-prior service candidates will earn between $196.26 and $254.91 per drill weekend.

Duties and Responsibilities * Performs inspection activities, to assess conformance of products to the design as defined by the engineering drawings and/or models * Inspects products, components, subassemblies, and/or systems to ensure conformance to requirements * Creates organizational value by implementing innovative solutions and best practices involved in all processes of the product realization value stream * Assists Quality Engineers with identifying nonconforming conditions of products that present existing or impending defective conditions at the system or subsystem level of assembly * Assists Quality Engineers prepare inspection plans and checklists for inspection * Generate discrepancy notices and initiate Material Review Board actions * Perform material movement transactions after completing inspection process * Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization * May specialize in receiving inspection, in-process inspection, process verification/auditing, final inspection, etc. Basic Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED * General knowledge of relevant manufacturing standards (such as J-Std-001/IPC-A-610) or common mechanical techniques (such as geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices GD&T) * Ability to use various measurement devices (calipers, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, etc.) to verify mechanical part compliance * Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and able to verify parts dimensions against drawing requirements * Experience in internal auditing and corrective action investigation desired * Experience in one or more of the following areas is required: fabrication inspection, nondestructive testing, and weld inspection.
