Description: Vehicle NVH CAE Engineer responsible for NVH CAE analysis of the full vehicle, subsystems and components.

Build trimmed body, suspension and exhaust FEA models for simulation purpose. Perform normal modes, frequency response and transient analyses to identify issues and resolutions. Develop design solutions to address NVH issues.

Work closely with vehicle development, NVH lab, & design teams to identify and resolve issues and optimize the structure for weight/cost. Perform transfer path analysis to root cause dominant paths and contributions to NVH performance issues.

Requirements:
-Bachelors degree in Structural, Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited University.

+2-5 years experience (industry)

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of Vibration Theory and Finite Element MethodsNASTRAN, Hypermesh, ANSA, Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Structural/Mechanical/Civil or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited University.

Excellent root cause and problem solving skills in automotive NVH. -Proficiency in automotive components and vehicle systems. Prior expertise in using CAE tools to identify and resolve vehicle NVH issues.

Travel and Driving Requirements:

Will be required to drive a company car. Valid drivers license is required as well as a clean driving record.

Autoliv is currently looking for a Development Engineer with focus on CAE analysis of automotive safety products and systems at our Auburn Hills, MI facility. This role is responsible for building and running system level occupant safety simulation models of frontal and oblique crash modes using Ls-Dyna for restraint system analysis. Other Duties/Responsibilities include: * Work with system engineers, product engineers, and external customers to use simulation as a cost-effective means to aid in the development of occupant restraint countermeasures. * Interaction with our full range of test labs – component testing through barrier. * Airbag and Seatbelt component level model building and validation. * Coordination of offshore simulation resources for component model build and/or analysis. * Building, running, post-processing system level crash test models. * Analyze test data and comparison to simulation results for the purpsse of model validation. * Summrize simulation results and analysis in a clear, concise report. * Adhere to all applicable Autoliv and customer standards and procedures. This position may require travel up to 10% (nationally and/or internationally) What you'll bring A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience as an engineer within the Automotive Industry – specifically in a role related to restraint component and system level occupant safety CAE analysis using Ls-Dyna is required. A Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. * Experience with DOE setup / analysis * Previous airbag and seatbelt modeling experience of some sort is required * Proficiency in Altair Hyperworks pre/post processing tools * Experience with optimization software / methods such as Ls-Opt * Working knowledge of energy management principals * Results-oriented with the ability to support cross-functional local and global teams * Detailed-oriented with the capability to dig into data and prioritize tasks and decisions in a timely manner * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as this position will require significant interaction with system, development, and application engineers as well as customers * Experience using MADYMO for restraint component and/or occupant safety simulation is a plus * Willingness and ability to travel nationally and/or internationally as required Application and contact Apply on our website.
