Job Description:

  • Responsible for designing and developing a product/product family.

  • Ensures production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel.

  • Tests finished product for quality purposes and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary.

  • Rear axle/gear design or Sealing Engineer.

  • Design Rear Beam axle assembly, gear set, and components to achieve required durability, functional targets, within the program timeline.

  • Create plan and associated documents: Client, FM. DFMEA, DVP&R. Execute the plan.

  • Manage cost, timing, weight, etc.

  • Initiate and Support the Problem Solving activity and continuous improvement actions to improve warranty, cost, and durability.

  • Coordinate and interface Component Design, Manufacture and Assembly with Manufacturing Plants, Suppliers and other Departments within Company.

  • Work with CAE to run FEA to perform Virtual analysis (Stress, Fatigue, NVH, CFD etc.) to validate Design/design changes analytically.

  • Verify and Test the Effectiveness of Quality Assurance systems at Supplier (APQP, PPAP, and PSO).

  • Bench Mark competitive design & Process.

Requirements:

  • BSME or equivalent is required

  • 10 year experience preferred (Rear axle/gear design or Sealing Engineer experience)

  • Strong work ethic

  • Entry Level will not be considered.

  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and computer skills

  • Core drivetrain design and development DFMEA, DVP&P, Client FM, etc.

  • Axle Hypoid Gear Design and/or Axle Sealing Design and development experience strongly preferred

Other-Requirements:

  • Hard Working, SELF Motivated, Proven Track Record.

  • Will be required to drive a company car.

  • Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record.

  • May be required to travel domestically and internationally 20%

Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required. Prepare project reports for management, client, or others. In addition, candidate will work to continually strive to improve Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Safety (QDCS). Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. </p> <p>The position requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge of the automotive industry (closures/BIW- OEM preferred), computer skills-Microsoft Office Products, technical aptitude with problem solving skills. Exceptional interpersonal/ communication skills, and must possess strong organizational skills, teamwork and leadership skills.
