Essential Job Responsibilities and Operating Procedures: Operator is required to cork the mold with a spray gun to specification.
Operator is to monitor all machine functions and controls to determine if the grid is being cast properly. Operator must maintain level lead pot by adding lead pigs into pot as needed. Hourly SPC data entries must be made to insure manufactured grids are in specification.
Operator must maintain grid-casting machine in good working order and have the ability to repair machine as needed. Operator must keep the lead pot drossed and free of accumulated lead build up. Operator must Etch-Test the first positive grid after a cork job with a solution of glacial acid and hydrogen peroxide to check for defects in the grid. All paperwork and trace ability information must be filled out in an accurate and timely manner.
Must be able to understand and apply all work instructions.
Must be able to work overtime as needed to meet production schedule.
Must be able to work successfully in team environment, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and all plant personnel, regardless of level.
Perform other work as assigned by supervisor or manager. Assist other member of the crew as required.
Protective Equipment: Employee is required to wear company-issued coveralls, metatarsal guard safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields and gloves.
Face shield required when adding lead or drossing lead pot. Respirator also required when drossing lead pot or dry sweeping.
Housekeeping: Keep work area orderly during shift.
Do not allow scrap grids to accumulate beneath machine. Clean all work areas at end of shift.
Facilities: Separate locker rooms for contaminated garments and clean garments.
Showering rooms provided. Clean respirators, if required or needed to be worn by your job or other requirements, will be provided to you by the Company. Washing up lavatories located near the break room out of the plant environment.
Employees must vacuum off uniforms prior to entering the break room area. Access to and use of facilities outlined in general work practice program.
Personal Hygiene: Refer to Work Practice Program.
Mathematical skills: Ability to apply basic math addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to adapt to frequent or sudden changes in priorities.
Maintenance Practices: Report all ventilation and equipment problems to supervisor immediately.
Other skills and abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job responsibility satisfactorily.
Must be able to comprehend instruction, both verbal and written. Must be able to adhere to attendance policy. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Due to required contractual standards, you must be able to pass vision 20/40 or better, with or without corrective lens.
The plant conditions may be cold in the winter and very hot in the summer.
Job may require lifting 30 lbs. routinely.
Blood draws to check blood leads is required, as per policy.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods. The employee is frequently or constantly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Work involves exposure to mechanical equipment, situations that may require extensive safety precautions, hazardous materials, chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes and/or loud noise.
