3D Viz Art Manager

The 3D Visualization team is a new and rapidly growing and changing team within Wayfair. The team is working on highly visible projects and is driving innovation daily for Wayfair. We are the team responsible for revolutionizing the imagery available to our customers. The team is in need of highly driven and motivated individuals; it is important that applicants are comfortable with constant change and rigorous prioritization of work.

The 3D Art Manager will lead and mentor a growing team of artists, must have expert technical skills in our suite of software and have a portfolio to show for it. We are looking for someone who is an authority on best practices and has the vision to create technical systems which will enable the team to iterate quickly on work. This leader will be critical to the team's ability to scale as quickly as we have planned.

In this role you will

  • Work with senior team members to develop standards and teach team best practices to quickly output high quality files for lifestyle imagery and architecture templates

  • Improve and maintain the bar for photo-realistic image production

  • Identify, mentor and develop talent

  • Create lifestyle imagery for Wayfair's brands


  • Expert knowledge of 3DS Max and V-ray

  • Strong design skills, and love of interior design. Must have a strong sense of composition and perspective and able to articulate how to manipulate an image to completion

  • Management experience of engineers or artists

  • Ability to mentor junior team members on creating photo-realistic renderings from 3D models

  • Expert knowledge of lighting & texturing including best practices and system development.

  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills. Proven ability to work successfully within and across teams. Able to build relationships at all levels in the organization.

  • Self-motivated and proactive. Make sound business decisions even when faced with ambiguity and competing priorities.

These models offer an opportunity to better understand complex biology in a physiologically relevant context where 2D models have not proven as successful. However transitioning research to a more physiologically relevant model can be a challenging and daunting task. Our Advanced Cell Models Field Application Scientist will empower customers by leveraging their own scientific expertise to instill confidence and trust in the solutions provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific in this rapidly growing field. Candidate must be willing to travel up to 70% of time to support customers and sales specialists. Responsibilities Portfolio Support * Serve as customer-facing technical expert, demonstrating intimate knowledge of products and familiarity with priorities and challenges in the field * Provide field and remote support to our sales organization by providing customers with technical guidance (pre & post sales activities) * Deliver scientific seminars and host round table discussions * Develop and lead hands on workshops, demos, and trainings Business Enablement * Provide market sensing mechanism, identifying new opportunities and highlighting gaps in current portfolio * Interface with R&D and product management teams to serve as liaison between customers and business * Attend conferences and events to grow technical knowledge and capture developing trends * Interact with marketing teams to drive new initiatives and develop customer-facing content * Interface with the global technical training teams and share best practices across organization Experience: * Required: Bachelors degree in Biology, Cell Biology, or related discipline. * Requires a minimum of 3 years experience working with organoid, spheroid, stem cell, or primary cell models * Extensive experience with cell-based disease models * Proficiency in culturing, differentiating, and gene editing human pluripotent stem cells strongly desired * Aptitude for cell based characterization tools and functional assays Qualifications * Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. * Ability to interface effectively with all levels of an organization and customers. * Demonstrate judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers as well the ability to handle confidential and proprietary information. * Must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, a positive attitude and perform as a team player. * Must excel in customer-facing role and enjoy interfacing with cross functional teams Working Conditions: Works in an office and lab environment.
