Researches, designs, plans, develops and/or evaluates new, advanced network technologies by translating customer requirements or strategic business objectives into final product design for projects of highest complexity and multiple technologies. Work typically includes in-depth assessment of the customer's networked application needs, providing network modeling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and engineering high-speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality. Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve very complex issues in creative and effective ways.
The ideal candidate would be familiar with Ericsson RAN network elements that include both technologies on CDMA and LTE. This candidate should have a good understanding of base station configurations and how to configure and grow new RAN elements using various Ericsson Element Management Systems in a wireless telecom environment. The candidate should be prepared to assist in basic management functions, installation of patches, global parameters and testing of such systems. In addition, the individual should be very comfortable with formal requests for firewalls, network VLAN/IPs, security scans and hardware/SW installations. Familiarity with the Sprint specific procedures for accomplishing these tasks is preferred.
The candidate will also plan and oversee testing of wireless radio communications systems in the Sprint NRT lab in Overland Park, KS. Select methods and techniques for in-depth test solutions that are self-contained, well documented, maintainable and reusable. Interact with senior internal and external personnel. Conduct LTE feature analysis, design and implementation; including but not limited to multiple antenna techniques, RAN parameter optimization, and LTE Advanced technologies such as Carrier Aggregation, different eNB configurations like 2T2R & 4T4R, 256/64QAM in DL/UL, CoMP, and MIMO. Conduct research relating to RAN features, translate them into test methodologies, and build consensus around optimal test scenarios and results interpretation.
Bachelor's degree and four years related work experience or eight years related work experience post high school
Three years experience with research, design, planning and development of new advanced network technologies, network components and radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission
Two years project management and project implementation experience
Prior experience on Ericsson RAN network elements that includes different technologies, CDMA and LTE radio base stations.
Good working knowledge and hands on experience for configuring, commissioning and maintaining Ericsson nodes.
Solid background in RF testing and methodologies
Solid knowledge of RF theory and new wireless technologies.
Experience in test automation and scripting languages.
Experience using RF test tools, ie: Spectrum analyzers, Traffic generators, XCAL/QXDM for device logging.
Ability to handle multiple requests and projects
Ability to work across multiple organizations.
