About the internship

KBREC will hire interns across many geographies like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas,

Overland Park (KS), and New York (NY). Intern group assignments may include Commercial

Mortgage Group, Income Property Group, Institutional Real Estate, Healthcare, Community

Development Lending, and Agency Loan Servicing. The internship will begin at the end of May 2019 and run 10.5 weeks throughout the summer.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum 3.3 GPA (preferred)

  • Relevant work or internship experience

  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership through extracurricular activities

Core Responsibilities * Support the Divisions in achieving new store opening goals, relocating stores and opening new field offices through the timely drafting and negotiation of leases and associated documents. * Responsible for negotiating and drafting lease renewal documents for leased properties. * Provide lease and renewal document support to the Divisions for owned properties. * Support to the Divisions in the drafting and management of other real estate related documents e.g. expansions, renovations and notices to landlords for repairs and other issues. * Providing assistance with the review of documents and the integration of stores from acquisitions. * Meeting the necessary productivity goals and deadlines while maintaining the quality of the documents. * Negotiate and draft documents that adequately protect the company from future financial risk. * Being able to work with different departments within S-W each of which may have different priorities (e.g. desire to open a new store versus a well-drafted document). * Negotiating leases so that they are acceptable to S-W and third party landlords. * Effectively communicating major problems with lease terms to S-W management, including an assessment as to future potential risk. * Obtaining document approvals from various levels of S-W management. * Incidental Functions: o Some filing o Assist with tenant issues for S-W owned properties. o Assist with property maintenance issues.
