SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs regular teacher's lesson plans while the teacher is absent

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reports to the school office upon arrival at school

  • Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students

  • Maintains, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned

  • Assumes the responsibility for instructing classes when a teacher is absent

  • Assumes other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent

  • Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and during lunch and other activities

  • Maintains appropriate records including checking test papers, recording grades, student assignments for homework, projects and the necessary clerical work required to maintain student records for a teacher who is absent

  • Provides for individualized and small group assistance for students as indicated by lesson plans

  • Follows all district and individual school policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching dictates

  • Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as outlined at the school/district

  • Accepts required number of assignments to maintain active status

  • Adheres to the professional code of ethics

  • Successfully utilizes technology as appropriate in job function

  • Performs any other such duties as assigned

ABILITY TO:

  • Prepare, read and comprehend a variety of job related forms, reports, spreadsheets, maps, plans, records, documentation and correspondence required by the job

  • Understand and conform to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style

  • Speak to individuals or groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Kentucky certificate, license, or other legal credential required

  • Experience and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

serve as secretary to the Principal and coordinate communications between administrators, District and site personnel, parents, students and the general public; train and provide work direction to clerical personnel and others as assigned DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS * Perform a variety of clerical and secretarial duties in a large middle school with a larger number of faculty, student body enrollment and educational programs * Perform a variety of clerical and secretarial duties in a small to medium-sized school REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Organize, coordinate, schedule and perform a wide variety of clerical and other office functions and activities related to the administration of diverse programs and operations at a large middle school; prioritize and schedule duties and assignments to assure efficiency and effectiveness and meet established time lines * Serve as secretary and provide administrative assistance to the Principal; make, schedule and arrange appointments, meetings and conferences; independently compose letters, memoranda and bulletins as directed; take and transcribe dictation as required * Organize budget and financial material to maintain accurate fiscal records; record expenditures and transfer funds as appropriate;
